Ok, I know, I should have used the brass muzzle-protector supplied in the cleaning kit.
What's really worrying me is this. Last time I cleaned my 686, as I was inserting the nylon-covered rod fitted with a jag/patch from the muzzle-end, it got slightly stiff when all of a sudden, the rod got in abruptly and rubbed against the crown. About .5 inch of nylon got shaved and the core material (steel / alu) is now exposed.
My question is this :
Is just one rub against the crown enough to degrade the accuracy of the revolver?
