my dream guns. only 1 more to go!

686-5 6" with factory power port. SDM front sight, millet rear. Miculek Bang! grips. Have another hammer and trigger on order from another member to bob the hammer and fill the back of the trigger with jbweld. Hopefully I don't butcher the newly bought pieces.

Hoping to make a pin gun out of her with the 230gr log type bullets in 38 spec. cases filled with blue dot. I understand it is a load that the 357 guns can compete against the 45 guns.

I also plan on swapping out the new style cylinder release with the older style or one of the fancier after market types and cutting the cylinder for moon clips.

Anyways, here is a dirty pic:

Earlier in this thread I posted a "quick & dirty" pic of my 686's wearing
their street shoes and today took the opportunity of nice weather to get
some better shots with them in something a little "dressier." ;)

I LOVE the picture threads also. It's amazing to see what others own. The 686 is one of my favorite revolvers. I have several in different lengths. The 2 1/2 inch is a frequent companion. Here it is in stock form. I'm makin' some changes and I'll post pics when it's done...

New 686-3

Hi. I'm new to this site. I was looking for information for the S&W 686-3 I just inherited. I was told it was a Distinguished Combat Magnum. It came from my uncle who my mother said bought it 20-25 years ago. As the story goes, it hasn't been shot more than a handful of times. The gun store I took it to in Utah said that looks to be accurate. Problem is, I can't seem to find a lot of info about this gun. I'm new to the handgun arena, having owned a few rifles most of my life. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
