Looking for a RH OWB holster for my 686+ 4".
Anybody know a good leather maker for this one?

Bought a Bianchi 5BH (left hand) for my 686+ three years ago from Packin'Heat Leather. $40.95 + S/H. Mine is 6" but imagine 4" is available.

First, I like to fondle before purchase and, second, I can be a cheap SOB. Because all the local gun dealers carry Galco products, I've become a real fan of Galco gun leather. They don't have any eye candy but they are available off the rack locally, last for going on forever with any care at all, and I can test for fit pefore purchase so I go home a with rather cheap leather holster that I know will wear like iron. For my K/L frames that means a black Galco thumb break for 64.95. Dont take it as gosple, but memory says the model is the FLETCH.

BTW, also love Galco belts. Before I started carrying I used to buy belts off the rack at Sears and the like and was constantly replacing them every 6 months to a year. Now the only belt I wear is a Galco and I expect it will be 5 or 10 years before I have to buy a new one. So, while it was a bit pricey at 36 bucks, in the long run it's a bargain and this cheap SOB loves bargains.

BTW, a dab of Atlas Door Ease on the snap makes them very easy to snap and they pop loose with just a tap with the thumb. Been using Door Ease on boat covers for more years than I'll admit to and it works just as well on a holster snap.

I have a Mitch Rosen express holster from Dillion Precision for my 3" 686+ works well for me it is really made for a 4" 686+.

Go to Lobo Gun Leather - Home. He is a member of this forum, and makes good holsters (and belts) for reasonable prices with fairly quick turn around. Here pic's of a couple for a 2 1/2" Mod 19, I also have one fo r a 2' J Frqame and one of his "mustgo's" for a 469 is in th email.

+1 on Lobogunleather..Rays' holsters are a great compliment to any S&W. Look at his Enhanced Pancake OWB. I just recieved one for my 625 and it is great. I also used to pocket carry my J frame but Ray made me a enhanced for it and I use it full time now. Sipowitz has a couple of photos modeling it on here somewhere. Also, look at his belts, they go well together.

I have a Bianchi Black Widow, it's a minimal holster and the barrel is exposed. What I like about it is that it's high and tight and L-frames of any barrel length will fit. Even K-Frames fit, albeit slightly looser. And it is a thumbreak design. Even the brown ones are called 'Black Widow'.

Simply Rugged is great leather gear. Priced right, quick delivery and very heavy duty.

Ray at Lobo and the rigs at Simply Rugged are both nice (as already noted), reasonably priced quality work with good service. I'd also add Tom Dyer to the list: Saguaro Gun Leather - Home
Fine rigs, also reasonably priced and quick turnaround. Can't go wrong with any of those three - I've experience with all.
