I just got my first S&W the other day, a 686-1 with a busted rear right. When the PO bought it, it had the sight adjusted ALL the way to the left. When the PO attempted to correct that, it busted on him. So now I have it and need to find a new sight for it. Does anybody have a source for a factory replacement or any aftermarket sight assemblies? I'd prefer one with an outlined notch, if possible.

Brownells has them "In-Stock" but I suggest you take this to someone who has the proper tools for the job and or order several extra spring and detente sets before starting out. Even if you don't end up loosing this one you will someday and they can be hard to find at times. Pun Intended

It LOOKS like I may be better off getting the entire sight assembly. Like I said, the adjuster screw got busted off in there and it looks like the works are rusted up pretty good. Piss poor maintenance if I ever saw it.

You'll need to make sure you order the right Sight Assembly if you decided to go that route. There were, I think, three different ones used on that particular Model. You might contact the Factory and talk to someone in the Service Department and let them know what the serial number is so they can tell you which Assembly you need. They might even be able to let you order one but S&W turned their Parts Department over to Brownell's a couple of Years ago.
