Aloha,

Today the Wife wanted to go to the range for some quality shooting time together.

One of the guns we took was her 686 357 magnum with 2 1/2 in barrel.

She got it a while back and shot it once or twice and put it away in her gun safe.

She wanted more time with it so we took it. Well, we thought we were getting old and our eyes were going. We both couldn't hit the paper at 10 yards.

My M-15, Beretta 22 kit on my 96 and the Colt Mustang were doing OK.

I tried adjusting the rear sight and found it wouldn't go down any further.

Is shooting at 10 yards too close for adjusting the rear sight on that 686?

I really don't think that it's us as we both were doing OK with the other guns.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

I shoot my 2-1/2" 686 at 15 yards all the time and the sight has plenty of adjustment up and down. Did you buy it used? I wonder if the previous owner changed it with a gun with a longer barrel. I think the snubbies come with shorter blades.

Aloha,

We bought the gun new from a local gun store.

I know we shot it with magnum loads, she said it's Barky and put it away.

Today, I decided to get more serious and we brought out to really sight it in.

That's when I realized I had put the rear sight all the way down to the frame.

How high is it shooting? Do the new ones have a pinned in front sight? I might call the factory for that one. If there is a problem with the gun they will take care of it.
