696-1

As long as we're sharing, here is my 696 ND with a set of Harlow Purple Heart stocks...

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I am somewhat tempted to trade back. His 27-2 is new in box. My 696-0 had been shot but not much and had original box etc. I had always wanted a 5" 27 but would actually like a high, shooter grade pre 27 instead of an unfired one and I do love .44sp. Would you trade back?

All you are doing is NOT enjoying that 27. Being just a warehouse for the next owner..........Several years back I bought an unfired NIB 3 1/2" 27-2 in box with goodies.......I shot it the same day.....Still do. I also have a 5 in and a 6 in. My safe is not a storage bin.........Its full of fun toys to play with.

Keep the 696 and buy back the 27-2. If he doesn't want to sell, there are plenty of nice 27 shooters to be had, even 5 inchers.

What range would you say is a good price-to fair price-to too high a price? I live in California where every private seller thinks his gun is rare and wants a premium price. I am currently trying to evaluate a 696 that is available and would appreciate you opinion.

Traded my friend back for my 696-0. He was glad to get his unfired mod. 27-2 5" back. My 696-0 is back home and will be shot.

How long ago did you pick it up?

I bought it from Collectors firearms in Houston in March of 2022. The prices I had seen were in that range. A fellow forum member notified me that he gun was at collectors. I just "happened" to be in the area so I checked it out and ended up buying it. Its in near perfect shape. I ended up changing the Uncle Mikes grips to some Pachmyars that I think look better and definitely feel better. When I find the right wood grips I'll switch to those.
