71st Anniversary

It was March 5, 1952 that I was sworn in to the U.S. Air Force.
I had gone to see the recruiter on my 17th birthday, but it took
a couple of weeks to get my physical and get sworn in. That was
71 years ago. It might have been March 6th. Maybe the 5th was
the day I was discharged 4 years later. Time does go fast when
we are having fun.
 
Ah the good old days, as a buff 17 year old Airman, the world was your oyster.
Coincidentally, the following month, the world-spanning BUFF B-52 first flew.
Saw in the news today that Rolls Royce is testing the new engines for the B-52, designed to extend it's service life for another 30 years.
