$750 mousetrap

Bought my 15-22 a couple weeks ago and it is now my favorite gun. Many thanks to Belt_Fed, SNAPPYCRY and the rest of the folks here on the forum for their how-to's and mods. Initially had a few failures to eject, but tweaked the ejector pin and it is now rock solid. Also made the tool and checked the barrel nut, it was tight so I left it alone. Installed the JP (yellow) reduced springs and the trigger pull is perfect @ 3-5 lbs. Shooting mainly the Walmart Federal bulk which works great/reasonably accurate and very cost effective at 3 cent per shot, which is good because I've already shot over 1100 rounds. Originally had a red dot scope but it was a little hard to see the dot in bright sunlight and wanted to shoot some longer distances, so I picked up a sweet Osprey 3x9 tactical scope at a gun show this weekend. Did you really shoot those groups at 100yds? If so my hat is off to you. You must be able to knock the bulls eye out at 50yrd. I hope mine shoots that well when I get it back from S&W.

I have never questioned anyone's pics/claimed distances. That being said....... that particular rifle appears to be a very exceptional performer.

I agree its a fine shooting gun and almost as accurate as my .270 at 100 yds, but the bullet definately drops about 4 inches more. I shoot at home in the pasture not at a range so my distance might be +/- a few yards. I walked it again last night and it is 105 paces from my bench to the target. I used a tape measure and my stride fairly close to 3 feet. I shot similar groups last night but did not take pictures. What is interesting is that the groups are not much tighter at 25 or 50 yds. I have it zeroed dead on at 50yds, and looking through the scope drop -1 cross hair for 25 and +3 for 100 yds. Keep in mind that I am shooting from a bench using the grip bipod. Are the groups I'm shooting really that exceptional? It was kind of what I was expecting for a $500 .22 rifle. I've been shooting for 25 years but have never been to a range so I really don't know what is typical for this gun.

I would say that is some awesome shooting at 100 yards with any .22lr. I can only hope mine is that good. But then again I may not be that good!

Which grip/bipod is that, and how do you like it?

Sorry can't help you with the grip. I bought it at a gunshow for $29 and it is a no-name China knockoff. Works well, although I wish the legs were a little longer due to the length of the gagazine. When I'm shooting from a bench I have to put something under the butt of the rifle or release the magazine when I'm done shooting or it does not sit stable.

I use a bipod/fore grip that looks just like that, and I really like it; especially for the price I paid! If you go to Amazon.com and search for a TACTICAL BIPOD WITH AUTOMATIC INNER GRIP you will see it.
If you have fairly short arms like me, the bipod will be far enough back that it keeps the mag off the bench. If you have long arms and move the bipod forward, the mag will hit before the bipod legs do.

Move your grip toward the magazine about two rail slots, you should be fine.
