This story hits close to home. My wife grew up in Elbert County Ga
right across the state line from Anderson SC.
This lady is quite a heroine.
I'm not a particularly religious person but I can't understand how anyone can read this story, see the pictures of the three perps and doubt the existence of Satan.

This is a prime example of not every criminal will not run after you pull your gun. It's a damn shame it ended for her the way it did but her bravery has hopefully stopped these despicable group of losers from hurting anyone else.

It should be a reminder for us all to be ready for more after the first shot.

No plan I EVER have will involve trusting in the good intention of a violent assailant.

As in the victim's case, sometimes you lose.

If you surrender, you ALWAYS lose.

Was this written about in the states? This account is from the UK.

I worry. Vicious thugs with no thought or concern of other's rights... When will this end?

.

I happen to live in the TV broadcast area that covers Anderson, SC and this was reported on all the local affiliates. ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX. Local sheriff's in this part of the country are very outspoken about citizens defending themselves by any means necessary against thugs and home invaders. There are still some parts of this country where sanity prevails...at least for now.

Sounds like they were watching her. Sorry it ended that way.
I will never shoot until I am forced to. But once I start, every thug there goes down.

Rest in Peace Dot, and I hope Justice really prevails for you.

Luckily even though I live very near (for now) not so decent a neighborhood, its not as bad as that though im fully aware it can happen everywhere at any time.

It is always said when someone loses their life over petty foolishness. However, I think Dot should have called it quits after the first robbery occurred. The media can spin this anyway they want to, but the locals are well aware of the real scoop. Dot, didn't just run a legal bingo joint. It was actually an illegal gambling spot, with illegal poker machines, and much more going on inside. When you run a place like this, you can expect the local riff-raff to come in and try their luck. The same thugs each and everyone you are speaking on, are the same type of people that choose to hang around these places. Most "thugs" are not what I would consider well off, and after losing a few hundred, perhaps it's safe to say, the "thug" mentality comes out. Most "thugs" wouldn't mind laying down an illegal gambling house, because 9 times out of 10, there won't be any reports of it. The same company Dot kept for years, is the company that ended her life, and I'm sorry it ended this way. However, when you flirting on the lines of legal & illegal business practices, you may just expect these sort of results. Just saying...

R.I.P DOT
