Hi, everybody. I've been searching the usual places for some speedloaders for my 327-TRR8, and haven't had much luck. It came with several moon clips, but I'd really rather get something else to train with.
It's my first revolver, and I really like it, but my girlfriend has trouble snapping the rounds into the moon clips!

Check Midway.com for moonclips and moonclip loaders, deloaders. Life will be a lot easier.

I'm not sure about firing the gun without the moonclips; you may experience misfires because of poor headspace with different brands of .38, .357.

Once you get used to the moonclips, nothing is faster for reloading.

Dan

Thanks, Dan. All Midway has is a rubber one, which I've never used before. I'll probably get a couple as they're pretty inexpensive.
We've fired over 600 rounds of various 38/357 ammo without the moon clips, and haven't had any problems with it misfiring.

I don't think anybody makes an 8 round speedloader. Something about their fragility due to the limited amount of space between the rounds.

Mooning isn't terribly difficult to do; I just put the shaft of my demooning tool through the center of the clip and I press the round down onto a hard surface.

Not to mention the TRR8 doesn't require moonclips. They're faster to reload, but not mandatory.

Confession:
I was never a fan of moon clips until I actually started USING some....

Experience:
The 627 8-shot is WONDERFUL with or without the moonclips.

Recommendation:
The pliers-type mooner/demooner sold by one of the forum members here works GREAT!!!

Works with 3 different arbors for 6 and 8-shot cylinders, from 38-40-10mm-45ACP....

<unsolicited praise> I searched LONG and HARD to find what would meet MY needs:

Take a look here:
http://www.mooncliptool.com/

<I have NO connection with the man> His product is working much better than I ever expected....

The needle nose pliers grows old rapidly....I even had a bent-nose pair that worked very well....just tiresome & slow....and didn't help at all for loading the clip.

I've got an 8-round 627, bored out to accept moonclips, and the gun came with three of them. But I never use them, I don't do competition shooting where fast reloading is a factor. And I've never had any problem with any clearance problems with the cartridges.

Save yourself the frustration of those rubber things marketed as speedloaders. They take a lot of twisting and pulling to release, and are slower than single loading the chambers. Give the moon clips a chance, they do work well and are fast in and out.

try dillon or ranch products. ranch sells them for about 80.00 for 100

SL Variant of Germany does manufacture an 8-shot speedloader similar to the Safariland Comp II & III loaders.

A couple of disadvantages to it...

A.It runs about $60.00! Maybe more since I haven't checked the exchange rate in a bit...

B.Their minimum order is 500 Euros!

Any takers?!?!
I keep wanting to...but I don't have a spare 500 Euros to throw around.

What do these look like? Does anyone have a picture of them?

I have some Maxfire speedloaders new in the package I will do you right on. They come two to a package. I have 3 packs of them never opened. Let me know if you are interested in them.

Thank you very kindly, but I have four of the maxfires already. I am looking for something that is a little easier to use.
If I could find some variant speedloaders, I'd take a look at them.
Thanks again.
