What I'd like -
something like the 327/627 but on a k frame
8 shot .38 Special +P cylinder
No special, no magnum, as light as possible while still having 3 shots more than a j frame
3" barrel
fixed sights like my Model 64.

Not room in a K frame for the 8- shot cylinder--that's why they are in N frames..

My thought, which is easily wrong, was that the pressures of even +P is significantly less than those of .357 Magnum and hence the thinner sides might allow for it.

7 shot L frame scandium? I hadn't seen that - could you tell me the model number?

Thanks!

If you measure a K frame cylinder and do the math, you wind up with NO metal between the holes for 8 shots of .38. Just plain need a larger diameter cylinder.
7 shots in an L frame is easy.

somrthing like 292? I'm not sure, I think it looked like a 296.

242...

Thank you for the information. That 242 looks seriously cool but a quick glance at gunbroker tells me I'll never have one  Perhaps a 686+ 3" someday...
