90s era single-stack .45s, which would you choose?

I chose the Sig because of the lighter weight. Wore an old-school pleather duty-belt with all of the gear festooned upon it. Every bit of weight saved helped.

S&W first...

....then the Sig, the 1911 and the Ruger, in that order. The Sig can 'float' around in my book. It could be my first choice, but the last two are pretty solid in their place. It would be nice to have a 1911, but given the choices... I just plain don't have any feelings for a Ruger .45.

The SIG! I have a bias for P220, especially in .45. My Stainless Elite Carry in .45:

For carry, reliability and a fighting gun - Sig P220

For classic sense of carry and a close second - Colt 1991A1

For incredible reliability, along with sharp edges, a distinct rattle and pounding in the loose nails around the cabin - the Ruger

For range use, the S&W third gen that has one of the best single action resets found among any DA/SA gun.

For me the only choice is the Colt 1911
The others you list are nice pistols, but the 1911 for me is the best shooting pistol and fits my hand perfectly!

Sig P220 for me. I used to build 1911A1s’ for Marine Corps shooting team and it is incredibly adept to match accuraizing, but in my opinion, not even in the same galaxy as the Sig double actions which come with bullseye accuracy as combat pistols from the factory….I don’t even own a 1911 anymore. I keep a P220 and it could very well be the last handgun to go if I had to down size….the last two I am very familiar with and again, not even the same galaxy.

West German P220. Should have never sold mine. That said, I bought my first 1911 with the proceeds and that’s been the carry gun for the most part since.

Tied: Sig P220 and Colt 1911
#2 -S&W
#3 -Ruger

I've had a Sig P220 for about twenty-five years. I seldom shoot anything but cast bullets in all handguns. The Sig has been almost as accurate as a Colt Gold Cup I've had for almost thirty years. And, with the Sig there is the advantage of the SA/DA design.
