Is $900 too much for a nickel 29-2, 4 inch bbl., mid 1970's pinned barrel, 98% only because it's been fired a few times. No box or accessories.

I'd be alot happier at $800, but I've been wanting one of these to keep. I expect it will only appreciate in value over the years.

Josh;

You'll get some dissents on this, possibly based on recent transactions, but I see this as about $200+ too high - it would be closer if NIB with the goodies. Interested to see what others think.

I think without it having the goodies the price to high by at least a $150 but a 29-2 with 4 inch barrel is hard to come by in that condition so if you like the gun and can afford it I'd buy it.

I have been looking at one for sale here locally [ 4" nickel 29-2] for $750.00. It has no box or anything with it so I thought it was to high.I bought a 6 1/2" nickel 29-2 last year in the case last year for $600.00 so I ain't exactly hurting for one.BUT,being a four inch,if he'd come down to $650.00 OTD I'd buy it on the spot.

Its a bit high, but prices keep going up. You may also keep looking for a long time and not find another in that condition.

My travels/experience in s/west say 800. is top end of the OK range in that cond. A 900. figure would include the box/etc. Altho' this model brought 1,100 last fall X-rds; saw it w/my own dos ojos.......IMHO, if that's what YOU want, do it.

Update:

Well thanks for all of the replies, very helpful.

The seller reduced a little, and added in some extras, and I just bought it a little while ago. I may have paid just a little extra for the condition, but the nickel finish and grips are impeccable.

I usually buy guns that are a little more used, for good prices, but a 29-2 is one that I wanted to be close to 100%, especially in nickel. I see it as an investment.

I like that it's a 1976, also. I know that probably doesnt increase the value, except to me, but I'm thinking of displaying it with some bicentennial / patriotic items.

The '79 that Bill mentions for sale in this thread is just as nice, at a great price. The 1976 thing was really the turning point for me, but his is a great deal too, and if anyone is in the market, you should condider it. I love these guns in 4" older pinned bbl & nickel. Shouldn't everyone own one?

Will try to post pics when I get it.

Thx again,
Josh P
