The mercury hit 99 degrees this afternoon so I decided to go check on Daisy. She's usually in the garage laying on her cooling elevated go bed in front of the shop fan, but no, she wasn't there.

She also has a cool spot in the shade under a Japanese maple tree in yard she likes to hang out in when it's hot, but no, she wasn't there either.

Well, maybe she's laying on the front porch. There is usually the benefit of a breeze there but at 99 degrees I'm not sure how cool that would be. I walked around the corner of the house to look on the front porch and I found her alright! She had dug up Mrs. Faulkner's flower bed and dislodged a number of the landscape blocks. Apparently she was in hot pursuit of a 3 inch lizard that had so far evaded her efforts.

There's an old song by Noel Coward, "Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid-day sun." :) That's a heck of a lot of work to indulge in at 99º! (Maybe the lizard ended up in the shop in front of the fan?)
