I'm pretty sure there's a 15-22 in my future. I've just got to do a little shopping around. The LGS where I shoot has quite a few of them for $469, making it just over $500 OTD. I haven't looked around elsewhere but will be doing so after the holidays. In the meantime I'll continue to peruse the posts in here to learn more about this rifle that everybody seems to love.

I see one in your future too!

Good luck in your search. The #1 reason that I purchased the 15-22 is because it is as true to a major caliber AR platform as a dedicated .22lr Ar platform can be. With the exception of cleaning the bolt & chamber, everything learned on a 15-22 translates to a major caliber AR.

Thanks for the tip on Shooters in Jax. Their price is now $409. With sales tax (since I'm in FL) and shipping it's $472 & change OTD. I'd have to pay an FFL transfer fee on top of that putting it at just over $500 with the $5 background check fee. That's almost exactly what one of the LGS is asking.

I've got another LGS that's quoted me $488 OTD with all taxes and fees. Based upon what I've seen advertised on the net as well as the asking prices at Gunbroker.com, that seems like a very fair price. I think I'll take it. Besides, I can't wait to load it up and shoot it like I stole it!

I would wait, and save up for the MOE edition. Or you can be like me and get one OTD at $427, and kick yourself for having to spend the extra $150+ on Magpul accessories.

i would buy the regular version. You dont need all the magpul stuff on a 22lr. I have my 15-22 and it is a stock version. I have mag stuff all over the 223 ar but i came that way. Save cash for a red dot or scope and enjoy it

Purchased this afternoon, the A1 Style Comp model (S&W SKU # 81033). Was quoted $502 just a few days ago. Another dealer just up the street from the first one quoted me $486. Went out today with the intention of coming home with a new rifle. Checked with the first dealer again and asked for their best price OTD. Walked out with it for $460. The next investment is naturally going to be ammunition for a range visit tomorrow.

First range trip today. Put 50 rounds of CCI Velocitor and 100 rounds of CCI Mini Mag through it. A few feed problems with the Velocitor. One failure to fire with the Mini Mag. Good positive strike on the primer, but no go. Other than that, this rifle is an absolute blast to shoot. Almost as much fun as my Rock River LAR-15, but much cheaper. Why did I wait so long to get one of these?

i feed mine a regular diet of the federal bulk pack ammo at wally world and it seems to run smooth in the 15-22's and yes you need at least 2 mags if not more to save some reloading time

2nd range trip today. 550 rounds of Federal bulk pack. Flawless performance. This rifle is obviously hungry as it eats everything that's fed to it and it does so very quickly.

Also picked up a second magazine and rifle case.

When you buy your S&W M&P 15-22, you'll LOVE it!!! It is a lot of fun to shoot, very, very accurate and provides a lot of cheap shooting!!! Wal-Mart sells boxes of Federal .22 LR ammo in 500 round boxes and it is not expensive at all!!! Once you feel comfortable with the 15-22, then when you buy the S&W M&P 15 you'll be right at home!!!! They function basically the same way!!! Just enjoy!!!! :)
