A 1911 in 9mm?

What in the wide, wide world of Colts is a-goin' on here?!! I hired you men to carry 1911s in .45 ACP. Not dance around like a bunch of Luger-lovin' panzies! (jk) ;)

I too have a 1911 9mm and I gotta say, it is a sweet shooter. Taurus PT1911 blued finish is not altogether too nice but gets the job done. Great function. One magazine needed adjustment for feeding properly - lips weren't bent quite right. Other than that, the full-size of a 1911 with that much weight makes for a nice shooter.

I had looked at the RIA etc. but this one landed in front of me and as we all know, one in the hand is worth...;)

I bought a basic Rock Island Arsenal 1911 because I needed a lower receiver for a carbine conversion, and I was so impressed with it I went back and bought the 45 Tactical model a few days later. It gets carried more than any other gun I own, it's hard not to love a 1911 in a good holster. Those Armscor guns are sold under a variety of names, but all seem like pretty serviceable handguns.

If the 1911 fever really hits you, you'll end up with a hit parade of different ones.
Somehow I've accumulated a 1911 in: .22, 9mm, 10mm and several .45's in different configurations. One day a .38 Super.

Just for the record and to ease the minds of CW Spook and Horace and Daniel, I have 3 1911's chambered in 45 acp. A Les Baer Premier II, a Kimber Super Carry Pro HD and one of the recently introduced Ruger SR 1911. The 1911 in 45acp is my favorite caliber for the platform, but the 38 Super and the 9mm are both very interesting vatiations. I would almost bet that before this is over I will add a 10mm, a rimfire conversion and maybe even a 50 GI if I hit the lottery.

Have no fear there, I still wear long pants! A 1942 Colt 1911A1 was my first centerfire hand gun way back when and many years of IPSC compitition with a customized Colt Govrenment Combat "race gun" in .45 ACP permantly made me a 1911 .45 man! Still have six 1911's in .45ACP and thought a 9mm would be fun to play with, and it is!

I love my RIA GI in 9mm! It is a hoot to shoot. Ya gotta change the grips, though. I wanted to keep mine austere, so I went with a pair of good old plastic checkered.
