Local range owner was admiring my model 57, said "you know, when the Navy base closed some of the guys left ammo here, it's been years and I sold all the stuff they left, except for the .41...
Ya want it? a dime apiece." I said I'd take all of it for that, and it was all new in box RP. JHP.
He had 500 rounds....

That's the only good thing I know of that came out of the BRAC (defense base closure and realignment commission) for my neighborhood.
The men would leave their ammo at the range cause they couldn't be carrying it on and off base.

Remington Jacketed Hollow Points...what grain weight...the 170 or 200....the 210s from Remington were never made in HP and the lighter ammo was only on the market for a couple of years...

GREAT BUY!!!

Some might be semiwadcutter...
I'll check that when I go back to the ranch, maybe it's actually worth more than a dime.....;)

The original lead SWC loads are almost impossible to find. They make a pretty decent moderate recoil self-defense round but the drawback is severe bore leading...I've never seen worse in a factory round.

That's cheaper than the gun show price for 22s!

I'd have to buy a 41 if I got a deal like that on the ammo(of course not that I need another excuse to buy a gun, and a model 57 is on my want list anyway).

Ever try the Rem. 158gr LEAD 357's?? Grabbed a box I had for years, don't know where I picked it up but I was short so off it went. FIred it through a 8" Python--:( took me two years to clean that barrel. :(

A friend recently gave me an old box of RP 158gr LSWC .357 which I shot to get the brass for reloading. OMG, that stuff leaded the barrel big time.

I am shocked that he did not give you a quantity discount for taking it off his hands in lot. You saved him the anxiety and stress of dealing with all of your fellow Forum hooligans that would have insisted on the phone number to call and buy the remainder.
