Found another M41 with the 5" barrel today. Was told it came from an estate sale. The last owner removed the rear sight and added a Leopold base with 1" rings and an Ultra Dot. I had been looking for another 41 after selling my last one a fear or so ago. Really pisses me off that I also sold the 8 extra magazines I had.

I have a couple of questions for the smart folks out here.

1. I already checked Midway and Brownells for some extra magazines. No Bueno.. Where is the best place to pick up a some magazines?

2. I'll check Numrich but is there any other place to look for a factory rear sight? It was removed to install the scope base and not included in the sale.

3. The serial number is TAM3028. Any idea what year it was made?

Thanks in advance

I'd guess it was 1986 or 87 according to SCS&W4. The rear sight will be harder to find than a few magazines. A replacement barrel might be found sooner. If you want to shoot with a dot, buy it.

The best place I've found has been either in local gun stores, gun shows or even on ebay. Actually, ebay is the number one source as far as I am concerned. My suggestion is DO NOT BUY any newly manufactured M41 magazines!! My experience has been that less than 50% of them work (many do not even fit in to the older models). Spend the extra coin and get a few gently used, well cared for USED Mag's and they will last forever! The vintage mags are much better quality, thicker metal, have metal followers and just plain last!

The newly made ones are 1/3 to 1/2 half the price of the vintage ones but make no mistakes - they are not even worth that low price! This comment is from my personal experience with M41's since 1979.
