A few questions I hope you guys can help with.

I am thinking about an M P 2.0 5" for an IDPA pistol. I'd like to use it in CO and SSP.
They have a lot of options on their web site, but is it possible to order a pistol with all the perfect options?

MP 2.0 5" 9MM
Manual Safety
CORE cut
NO Ported barrel.

Does anyone have one with the large manual safety; can you use the same grip and thumb position as a 1911? I like my P226 SAO, but a high grip will cause the slide to not lock back on the last round.
The performance center pistol is close, but the ported barrel is not legal in IDPA, and if you change barrels, it is not legal in SSP.
What would it cost to add an optics cut to the FDE 5", SKU: 11537. Still not sure that would be a legal mod.

Thanks for your help.

I not going to get into the difference in models but for idpa I would be fine with a sku:13567 if you can find one . Add a holosun 507K-GR X2

I'm an old 1911 guy and found over the years I prefer the small GI thumb safety and sweep threw for a thumbs forward hold . Hate the large alnding strips thumb rest most come with today . Sweeping over the GI type rest it make's ready to fire reliably . Our m&p's all work the same way , sweep threw the m&p thumb safety . I don't find it a big deal but I CC a commander normally but will carry4.25 40sw with thumb safety for road trips or big city trips . Good luck .

If you think your skills are good enough for the 4.25" version a SKU 13567 may fill your needs . It is idpa not uspsa .

I used to shoot M & P 1.0 9 mm Pro 5" @ Action Pistol/Steel plates with no complaints. Now use M & P 2.0 9 mm 4 1/4 barrel model with a safety when not shooting my 1911's. While most do not prefer a safety on M & P, I do, ride the safety like the 1911's for higher grip, improves accuracy.

I didn't loose anything dropping form 5" to 4 1/4" barrel, not ported, factory sights too, would prefer fiber optic front. The M & P grip as close you get to the 1911 grip, beavertail feels the same and safety falls on same spot as 1911 to ride the thumb.

Thanks guys, My P226 is 4.4" so the 41/4" M&P should work if the 5" is not and option. Not worried about the sights if the stock sights are not perfect I'd likely change them out for Dawson's. I like the fact that the M&P grip is close to the 1911. Too many wonder nines have grips that just too large. I like the Wilson extended safety on 1911. Just a little more than the GI safety but not as big as some aftermarket. Gives a good thumb rest so the left hand get a little higher than thumbs forward, without feeling like a canoe paddle on the side of your 1911.

Might try some color of testers paint you can help but notice on your front sight if you shoot from out a dot optic other wise I black out at least the rear sights white dots .
