A few days ago, I was at a local grocery and some karen came in and was freaking out about my Angel dog whining in my car to an assistant mgr. Now, I park in the shade, leave the back windows down, and have remote start to keep the A/C on. I'm in & out pretty quickly so the car's still running when I come out. I know the grocery girl, Ashley, fairly well just by BS'ing, etc. She said she laid into the lady and explained how well I treat my Weim. Lady wanted to see the store mgr. Kenny happened by and held up his phone with my dog's pic in my car. "Is this the dog?" "Yeah!" "The dog gets treated better than most humans!"
Karen stormed away (that was her real name.) I bought a few extra lottery tickets for the front end mgr.!
Told her next time, call me over the intercom!
I thanked her for protecting my dignity!! (Angel has protected me before, too, from some parking lot beggar one time, when he touched me!!)
97# of pure muscle!

Had a somewhat similar experience. Around 9 o’clock in the morning, temp in low 70s, parked in the lot of this local supermarket, leaving my Golden Bella in the truck while I went inside for a moment. I came out a few minutes later to find a lady in front of my truck with her cell phone preparing to take pictures. I asked her what was the problem and she lit into me about my cruelty of leaving Bella in a hot truck. Said she was getting ready to call the police.
I’m in a vacation/resort area, the minivan with several kids partially blocking me in had plates from two states south of us. I asked the lady if that was her car, when she replied, yes I asked her what kind of example she thought she was setting for her kids. She stormed off and Bella and I went about our business.

Scratch her ears and give her a treat for me. I miss my best Grey every day and he’s been gone 8 years. IIRC its a crime to leave any pet in a vehicle in N.C.? or Va.? I used to have to leave the Grey in the SUV very little as he was welcome everywhere even the drug store. Had him in the drug store and someone related to the hag ,ur uh woman you met blurted out to the Pharmacist,” you let dogs in here?” Pharmacist lowered his glasses and told the hag, “ mam, Gear has never yelled, screamed, broken anything or thrown anything unlike many children”. Hag turned red as a beet, lol. All the staff in the drug store would come from behind the counter to,pet and talk to Gear then wash their hands.

Had this happened in Florida, I could have broken all your windows to rescue your dog, as leaving it in the car is illegal--period.

My dog comes with me to work most days , this past week we were in a excavation with solid rock on two sides , sun beating down
40+ degrees on site
I wouldn’t really say he likes the heat but he’s used to temperatures that would kill your average Karen
Still , I don’t leave him in the truck with windows up -ever- he has an escape if I’m delayed for any unforeseen reason

I have set up my last few cars to be left locked and running with the AC on, and until this car had decals on the windows showing a Rott head and the words "Stay Back. Work dog." Bozo (avatar) in particular was utterly intolerant of strangers (he was a Rott X Fila cross and took after the Fila temperament) and people passing by got a very unpleasant warning from him.

For the information of all: at 60 and sunny, the car will be too hot in about 5 minutes.

The more I’m around people the more I like Dogs….Met an abandoned hound in a gun shop in Daytona today. Sweet hound that instantly knew I’m a Dog person. I scratched his ears and his back just before his tail and he didn’t want me to leave. Guy behind the counter said the store manager found him on the side of a road.

I think I saw your parking lot begger yesterday...sitting in a fold up chair at a red light in Billings(103 degrees). He had an umbrella, a slouch hat, one toof, a beard and a basket on a stick so he didn't have to get up for donations. I doubt the guy made a 100 pounds...Sorry.. I just couldn't shake that 97 pounds of pure muscle

I had my pickup set that way, Has a sign that I taped to the driver's window, "Dog is fine, AC is on, she is listening to Willie's Roadhouse on XM Radio"

As my second sentence in the OP said, car was in the shade, remote control turns the A/C on, and still the back windows were 3/4 of the way down, just in case. If I get hung up at the lottery counter, I can start the car from inside the store. I'd NEVER leave my baby in a sealed up car. Plus, I don't care for getting into an oven! Angel has "protected" me from a parking lot beggar that grabbed my arm to get my attention! That was one mistake that dude will never make again! She hates the "Medusa" hair to begin with!! The car darn near vibrates when she growls at them! Plus, I paid a lot of money for her! (Like that matters!) Just some separation anxiety makes her bark some when I go into the store. Or in the basement. Or bathroom. Yinz get the picture!! I tried to get a rescue dog but they gave me such a hassle I had to say bad words. I think it would be easier to buy an automatic rifle with a suppressor. They recently denied my brother in law because he doesn't have another dog!!?? WT*!! My pup even likes our bunny Snow! Not the wild ones though. Nor the deer!

Decades ago, while still living near the Burg, I adopted a puppy from the shelter in the strip district (NOT what some of you are thinking). I do believe I could have adopted a baby with less fuss and bother. And, they definitely misinformed me as to the breed.

Kinda hard, not impossible but still hard to do, to break windows that are rolled down. Did you let emotions get in the way before you got to that part of the post.

Okay it is illegal to leave a child or animal unattended in a car here also. BUT it you take it upon yourself to break windows to "rescue" them you can be charged with burglary of a motor vehicle. Call 911 and let the pros deal with it.

Woke up seeing my last GSD at the foot of the bed looking up at me. Blinked my eyes and he was gone. Couldn't have been him, though, cause he always slept where I would have to step through him. There was no getting out of bed without his loyalty and love by my side. Best friend, indeed. I'll never be the same without another one and somewhere for him to run wild fenced in. Maybe that explains a lot of my depression. We had some great times, though.
