Some of you know a little about me, most don't. I had the idea for this post after talking to a member yesterday and I realized that had have a bunch of friends on here, but because of the anomity of the internet does anyone really know someone any more.
So here it goes...
I was born in Detroit in 1966, but left there soon after the riots. Until my niece was born I was the only American born in our family not born in Kansas. Moved to Wichita where my little brother was born in 1969. My dad was an airtraffic controller and always looking to climb the ladder. Eventually, we settled in Springfield MO in 1971, and I didnt leave there until 2006.
I got my first gunshop job when I was 15 and worked there until I got out of HS and shipped off to Ft Benning to start a short stint for Uncle Sam. Would have probably made a career out but couldnt stand what the Army had become in the 80's. Went back to Springfield and the gun/pawn business (and a number of different & interesting side jobs as well) until the mid/late 90's when I finally realized I needed to do something that paid more. Started college when I was 30 and obtained a Master's degree in Accounting in 5 years. I eventually obtain two certifications (Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner). Worked as a PA for a while, and then became an internal auditor for the company I work for now. Did that gig for 4 years until the 300+ days a year on the road finally burnt me out. I am now the Chief Maintenance Engineer (way to use that degree hunh?) for one of our hotels.
I have always been passionate about guns and have gained and lost a couple of fortunes in them over the years. It has only been in the last few years that they have quit being a means of exchange for me.
Up to a couple of years ago my collecting (or accumulating) has been kinda all over the map, but S&W has always been my primary focus (there IS still a few others in the safe
) with the 44 magnum and 50'/60's revolvers being at the top of the list. I got my first 29 right at 25 years ago and still have it. At times it has been the ONLY gun in my collection and it is the one that will go in the "oven" with me.
Thats it in a nutshell...so tell me a little about you.
