That is one sweet Terrier!

That's a real dandy!

But I wonder why the Moose head? That seems such an unusual engraving subject for a small defensive revolver. I have lots of questions about this very interesting revolver. Hope you don't think I'm being a pest. Can you tell us anything about the engraving? Old or recent? Original factory or aftermarket? Have you lettered it? If so, did the grips letter to the revolver? It's a wonderful looking Terrier, all in all! Congrats!

Oh... how cute! I want one!! :)

Looks like the hammer and trigger have been "jeweled". Is "jeweling" a new or old process?

Just some guesses. The engraving is probably too nice to be factory. Its a deeper relief than you usually see from them. The grips look like factory exotics, if only because of the small diameter inset gold medallions (but those can be harvested and reused.) Normally the jeweling isn't factory, either.

Jeweling is an old processes. If you pull the sideplates from old hand ejectors, you sometimes see a pattern milled onto it. The jeweling we see here is just a series of overlapping circles. You can do that at home with a drill press and a pencil with a good eraser, and some automotive rubbing compound. Its pretty hard to do freehand. But using a vice and a straightedge clamped to force in-line movement, you can manage.

It is so cute I want to bring it home and hug it!
Seriously, A fine Terrier! I have a plane Jane one from 53 and would trade for yours anytime!

The gun letters as shipped to Firearms International, Washington DC, April 11, 1952, as; Terrier, pre Mdl 32, cal 38 S&W, 2" bbl, blue finish, checkered walnut grips.
Apparantly it was highly personalized by the owner, (see additional picture of the backstrap with his name in silver). The trigger and hammer are jeweled. Maybe he had the latch button replaced at the time of engraving. The grips that were on it when I got it were carved ivory, I replaced them with the medallion MOP ones.
"Steve" must have been quite an outdoorsman, thus the inlaid silver Moose head and carved deer head grips!

Like some here, I'm not a fan of engraved firearms, but THAT is a little jewel! It should be framed and put in a place where it could be admired. A real work of art, for sure.
