Hello friends. I decided to do a little mod I had in mind for a while, but didn't decide to do until a friend and I were practicing weapon manipulations for so long, my hands got real sweaty and tired. Around 5 hours, non stop. I don't usually go that long.

The magazine became hard to push, as my hands got sweatier. I am aware that an enhancement is on the market, but my thumb reaches it just fine, so I never got one. So I decided to add a little grip. I stippled the face, and then added 3 directional lines. It's like it's sticky.

It's worked well and I think anyone who isn't interested in the catalyst, would love this. S&W sent me a free magazine release to practice on, so it won't cost a thing.

The stippling, alone, wasn't good enough. Adding these gashes made all of the difference. Hope this helps at all.

Looks great!! I'm sure you will love the improvement in performance

Thanks fellas. It's the best mod I've done to any of my firearms. You never REALLY know what you need till you spend a lot of time with a weapon. I've wasted a bit of money on things I thought I needed. This was free.

t bell, you could probably do this yourself, but if you're interested, pay the postage and I'll ship the spare to you, blank or modded. Free of coarse.

how did you did the lines? flat screwdriver maybe? thanks

No. There is a soldering iron that comes with different tips. You can get it at Lowes for 15, or one with a temp control at a hobby shot for 20. I used the flat tip. Kind of like a flat head screw driver. It's really easy but if you want it done, have S&W send me the a spare mag release, and I'll do it and ship it to you the same day. No charge. Just pay shipping. S&W should give it to you for free. Have a good day.

And why should S&W give you one for free? You said S&W gave you one to practice on? What did you tell the to get one for free?

Not should, as in it'd be wrong if they don't, but they sent me mine free of charge, and countless others report parts being sent, no questions asked. All I did was ask them if they could sell me the mag release separately and the gentleman asked me for my address and said it's on the way. Very nice folks.

Is your M&P a 9C? The shield magazine release is steel and I do not think a soldering iron would touch it. Thanks for the response.

The one in the photo is the 5" CORE but I did this mod to my 9c, as well. I'm sure this can be accomplished on a steel mag release, with a Dremel, or machines I use at work. If you have a Dremel, and attempt it, please let me know the outcome. Thanks.

The shield magazine release is just like the other M&P magazine releases. Its not steel.

That's what I originally thought, but figured something changed.

BTW, although I am sure almost everyone here can do this yourselves, if you can't, for any reason, the same offer is extended to you. Just send the part and 3-5 for shipping and I'll do it for free.

So, you're saying S&W is wrong if I asked to get every single part I wanted and they won't send it to me? I would call S&W to replace a broken part or worn out part. But to call them and get what ever I wanted is dumb. I want to keep prices down on S&W products. These FREE parts cost money, taking advantage of getting FREE parts because you want to will drive the prices up eventually.

Are you serious? Read my post again. If you have, read it again. I am clarifying that when I used the word "should", it was not in the context that it would be wrong of them not to give it for free. I was stunned to had received the part for free, but called with my bank card ready to pay. Also, I don't think you'd have to worry about prices on S&W small parts rising. It is common practice for them to give these small parts away. Prices would have rissen by now, as much as they give them away. Trust me, I'm not special. A quick google search will show that many MANY people are sent small parts free of charge. It's just them being generous to those who buy their products.

Right here you said it yourself. And I think you're wrong about companies giving free parts away for being generous to customers. If that were true. Midway, brownells , etc companies wouldn't be in business.

Also, I'm not taking advantage of ANYTHING. They offered it to me when I intended to pay for it. Other than frame plugs, I haven't received anything from them and don't call them asking for parts, unless I need the part. Taking advantage? You may have simply misunderstood my post, otherwise, please don't high jack my thread, instigating confrontation with allegations. Thanks.

Here you go again. I'm simply stating they were generous to give people small parts. That's it. I don't know what your problem is, but I'm dropping out of this ridiculous exchange you've instigated. Please have a great day and try and be possitive throught it. God bless.
