Found a 5 inch "pre Mod 10" at a sale today, serial # S 969xxx with numbered sharp shouldered stocks.
Not a rare gun but a nice example of a post war .38 spl in "shooter" condition.

I did a purge of the lowly M&P/Mod 10 from the GF collection this year and then I go out and buy this! :D

You are not to blame! No one in his right mind could have passed on this one. Very nice. I collect mostly target K frames, but I could not have passed this one up.
Congratulations!

I do have a question for all of you, though. I know I'm showing a bias by even asking the question, but do you guys think it is proper to refer to an S serial number gun with the long throw hammer as a "Pre-Model 10?" Personally, I'm not fond of that nomenclature anyway, but the change of hammers is fairly significant and by 1957, the long throw hammer was but a distant memory. No Model 10 ever had one. Please don't "hammer" on me for this (pardon the pun) but I really would like to know what others think.

Thanks,
JP

I like the Post War M&P rather than Pre Model 10! Pre-Model 10 would start with the C prefix in my way of thinking!

Oh by the way that is a High condition shooter & one that would by hard to pass up, assuming the price was reasonable.
