Hello all. I'm on my way to purchas a "well-used" model 39-2. From the pictures seller sent me, it's two tone (nickle-like plated frame + blued slide), most likely refinished. Pachmayr rubber grip. One mag.

I have been looking for a 39 for a while and even though, it's well used, it just too good of deal for me to pass. I just have to ask you s&w experts few things.

1) Where can I find grips for it? I'm the freak who actually doesn't like Pachmayr rubber grip. CDNN is selling some panel grip that fit 59. Will 59 grip fit on a 39?

2) Is there any time in history, S&W ever make duo tone 39-2 that comes blued slide with nickel plated frame?

3) Last, where can I find 39 mag? What models' mag will fit 39 (908, 3913...etc)?

Thanks ahead.
Once I pick up this baby, I'll post pictures and range report.

Old,

Hogue website has some good lookin' wood grips for your 39. Try Numrich or Brownells for mags.
I bought a dash 2 with issues in a multi-gun deal recently. I'm about to disassemble and address those probs and, hopefully, get it back into shooting condition. An e-mail to Springfield regarding parts was answered with "those parts are considered obsolete". No joy, there!

Congrats, the 39 is a great pistol. No, the grips from a 59 will not fit, at least not properly (different shaped backstraps). You should put up a "want to buy" ad in the classifieds here, I wouldn't be surprised if someone here offers some up.

I don't believe the 2 tone was ever offered from the factory, but yours sounds like it should be a great shooter, have fun.

Ok, cross off the number 2. I already got my answer today seeing the pistol in person. It's a full blued version but some knuckle head along the line decide to polish off all the blued on its frame. (The internal still blued). That means, I will sometime in the future sent this piece out to reblue.

The condition of this piece is actually better than I thought. The slide still pretty dark blued with mirror-like finish. Not too much of scratches or dins.

This will make a nice shooter pistol for now and later turn into a little project.

The frame is aluminum, and the blue color is anodizing. You'll have to get it re-anodized, instead of reblued. Somewhere, I think in this forum, I read that the anodizing also hardens the surface, and with it removed there's increased wear. Someone who knows what they're talking about please post on this.

Got you. The facility I have in mind was Customized Creationz. They have been doing lots Sig refinished, so they would know how to deal with alum frame.

Old noob ive got a few mags i could sell you for 20 a piece. A friend Of mine happend on em in a multi gun sale and he sold em to me. But i have no use for so many extra clips. Ive got three id be willing to sell if your interested. Or you can buy them off the smith and wesson website for 40 a pop but they wont be original factory mags

Well, looks like I got the grip covered. I just won a gunbroker auction of this:
