I have a brand new model 66-8 that has colored hammer, trigger & thumb piece & nut. Does anyone know what this black finish is? It is my hope to be able to remove this finish & lightly color the white underneath. I really don't think the stark black against the satin glass bead finish suits my taste (that is me being polite). any advice & or tips will be greatly appreciated & as always - Safe Shooting

Someone here stripped the black finish from the small parts rather successfully using naval jelly

Still stuck on the black coloring of the 66-8 parts. Does anyone know what the black finish is? If it is a salt bath nitriding process (Tenifer/Melonite) or something else altogether. It would be a loss to remove it if it were a coating of this nature. BTW - aviation paint stripper didn't touch it.....
