Picked up a few 686-4 pre lock 2.5" revolvers. I really love the way these feel, look, and handle. They say the 686-4 has all the right Mods and is one of the better built Smith & Wessons ever to come off the line.

Both have Factory Combats as you can see from The CS (Combat Stocks) on the label. And one is quad ported. Definitely not A Lew Horton as I called Earl at Horton, but I think maybe a Distributor Special. Either way I love these little guys.

686's that you got

Really fine looking snubs that you got there. Those wood grips are for show and not go!!!! Lets see some range reports from those mean machines. Shoot hi speed 125 grainers thru that quad ported one and it will make you smile!!!

THOSE ARE TWO BEAUTIES. THE DASH 4s ARE GREAT GUNS. MY SNUBBIE IS A NO DASH, THAT CAME WITH A SIX SHOT CYLINDER, AND COMBATS. THE COMBATS ARE VERY COOL, BUT THEY DON'T FIT MY HAND. WHEN I SENT THE REVOLVER TO S&W FOR THE "M" MODS, I HAD A SEVEN SHOT CYLINDER INSTALLED. I SWAPPED OUT THE COMBATS FOR A PAIR OF MAGNA PCs, AND A TYLER-T GRIP ADAPTER. IT FITS GREAT NOW, AND PACKS A LITTLE EXTRA PUNCH FOR SD / HD.

You've got great taste.
That's a beautiful pair of wheel guns...and your on one hell of a roll!
I don't think I've ever seen any one rack'em up like you!:D

Congratulations man

jjbrewst1,
You have posted pics of some fantastic guns from your collection. I've admired all of them. However, these two really "tripped my trigger". I just acquired a Pre Md 27, 3.5 inch in superb condition with all numbers matching (including magnas). But I'm not so sure I wouldn't be happier with those two 686s. I have a Lew Horton 686 no dash that I put way up there on the cool factor, and yours are there too! Congratulations, those two are real prizes.

I like the way you think! Always thought it was OK to pick up 'a few' of a certain model. Now I know it's OK. Enjoy!

Thank you. I'm going to get all the combat guns together for a group shot. Just waiting for one more to come in from my buddy Haris.

Don't worry I'll help you out of the jam and take the one with the darker combats off your hands, it's the least I can do... ;)

I'd call the 686 dash 4 the King of Smith's modern revolver series. And you got two beauties. Congrats!

That sure is a pretty pair Jim, I must confess to being more than a little bit jealous. The 686-4 is widely considered to be the best of the series, congratulations. On a side note, I have a 686-4 + (7 shot) , seems to be a somewhat rare model. Do you have any insight on it? All the best, Bob.

Bob.

Let me do some checking. I think it's a special Run

Pretty pair of dash 4's !
Also interesting that one has a flash chromed hammer trigger set not common in the dash 4 and both have 6 shot cylinders.

IIRC the initial run of 2500 2" snub RB's was produced for Lew Horton dist. back in 1984

Joe, if you ever need a son to adopt, go to football games, and shoot with you... I'm up for the task, hahahahahaha! I always admire that beaut every time I see it. How are you my friend???
