Hello,

I am doing a small amount of research for a friend.

If anybody could post pictures of .44 Russian ammunition boxes made between say...1895 and 1940?

And if possible a date when the pictured ammunition was manufactured? Or "close to" date?

Thank you.

.44 Russian Ammo boxes

Here are three boxes that seem to fit your request. I think all of them are about 1920 plus or minus. The WRA box label is dated July 1916 (lower right corner) which is the date the label was approved, the box and cartridges would have been up to a few years later. The Remington UMC, which were just primed cases for personal loading would be post 1912 at least. The Eley cartridges are about the same period as the others as far as I know. You need to zoom in on the cartridge image on the Eley box to see the designation as .44 S&W Russian, the headstamp is just Eley London 44 R. The images were reduced in resolution for this post, so most of this is well visible on the original but barely on the uploaded image.
