A S&W 22 revolver hen's tooth: The post-war TRANSITIONAL 22/32 kit gun

Hi Jim,

That's very curious! Yes I'd send it back too. It'll be waiting for him when he returns on the 25th.

What is the number on the stocks that don't match the gun?

Did you confirm if the sideplate screw under the right stock was flat or domed? That will tell us if the original grips were mini magnas or service round tops.

That box is a find in itself! My 2" # 38929 shipped 1/59 and is a Mod 34 stamped gun. That box (and gun that was in it) must have shipped late 1958 as a stamped Model 34.

Jim, I checked and the box is not model marked.

My word, uncheckered rosewood stocks are so amazingly attractive. I really need to find the right J-Frame to put my set on.

Also, just to toss in my contribution, a "Virtual" pre-war Kit gun:

Very curious to see what Jinks has to say about it when he gets down to my letter in his backlog.

Sixgun,

Your J frame un-checkered rosewood stocks will also fit any Model of 1953 'NEW' I frame in .22, .32 or .38 S&W. They all have the full size J frame grip frame as well.

And I still think that's the nicest and most interesting Transitional Kit Gun....uh...I mean "virtual pre war Kit Gun" ever.

Thanks, it really pleases me too.

Much better with the Kearsarge on it though:

I'll have to keep an eye out for the "new" I frames. I really love rosewood more then a man probably should love mere wood. I need to find a round butt Pre-10 also for the second set of random Rosewood stocks I have bought.

I need more money.

Wow, yeah beautiful! I love these Ropers that came on my HFT that I bought for the grips:

I need more money too, but if I get it, I'll need more room as well.

Hi
Here is one of mine I have two of these. The serial numbers are 5813XX and 6016XX
I have the box and all the tools for one of them and a picture of the original box numbered to the gun.

Just adding the details and a few more pics of SN 534617 (photo in post 12 above) to this thread. It shipped on 12/13/1951, has the rebated back strap, and is one of very few that had the "2-screw" rear sight.
