A small, near victory from behind enemy lines

According to the article, Colorado has a preemption statute which prohibits municipalities from passing laws against guns that could be possessed under Federal and Colorado law. So until the state preemption law is rescinded it looks like Boulder cannot prohibit black rifles. But if the district court decision is overturned on appeal or if the Colorado Supreme Court rules the preemption law no good—I would not want to be possessing a black rifle in Boulder.

"Witnesses told FOX 31 Denver that they heard pops that sounded similar to fireworks and saw a man brandishing an "AR-15 style weapon" and wearing what looked like tactical gear."

I give your preemption law a 0% chance of survival.

The actions which have occurred here in Boulder are awful. The time is not right for anyone to do anything but feel sorry for all those involved, with one notable exception.

The narrative may yet unfold in unexpected ways.

While I personally am not a "Black Rifle" fan. I hated it when the Army took my M-14 and mad me take the M-16. Not a fan boy of going to war with a .22 caliber; sorry. I support the right for civilians to own an AR-15 as it is not an "assault rifle" like I was trained with in the U.S. Army. It is a semi-auto rifle like any semi-auto rifle that takes a magazine some smaller and some larger but that is the only difference. It does not have selective fire capability. I am more of a long range reach out and touch someone, small unit tactics; you will never know I was there type of guy.

The real news is starting to come out by the shooters family members, mentally unstable and a history of violence. As if there was any doubt. But that will be ignored by the bottom feeders that will use this tragedy for their own political gain.

The FBI announced that he was on one of their watch lists. Where/when have we heard this before?

The POTUS has just called for a ban of the so called assault weapon. I doubt its stoppable this time around.

Standard response by the left and it may hinge on Joe Manchin.

Throughout 2020 and continuing today, we witnessed the trashing of constitutional amendments and rights at all levels of government...to keep us safe. I would express the opinion to anyone that would listen, and few did listen, that this sets a dangerous precedent. I even used gun control as an example, stating that it wont be long until these orders are used to keep us safe from gun crimes now that society has demonstrated how willing they are to lay down and take it. You cant pick and chose amendments, its all or nothing, and I have been blown away witnessing so many rabidly fighting for the 2A while criticizing anyone who dares defy a government order stating only household members can gather for Christmas. And now the POTUS claims he can and will institute control measures through executive order, and based on what I have witnessed over the past year he will get away with it. The chickens are not only coming home to roost, their bringing their cousins the pigeons with them.

Its interesting that this guy drove from his home in Arvada, which has two King Soopers, to Boulder. Who knows what goes on in the head of a whackjob, but he was much less likely to run into an armed shopper in Boulder than at home.

Look at his background. Look at his rantings on FB, if you can find his page. It disappeared right after all this happened. Is it a coincidence that all this happened when it did? Could it be a diversion to the border crisis and a boost to gun control efforts? Right now no one is even suggesting this is a terrorist incident and even if they find out it is we won't hear anything about it.

Muss Muggins has given the best advice about how to effectively address your representatives about these bills. Get right to the point. if you wander into conspiracy theories and unconstitutional lockdowns for covid, they will just write you off.
