A victory for your data base

Hi Boys & Girls Here is another victory model for your data base. Ser# V 665224 it is parked but i don`t think it is the finish it started out with.It has a 5" barrel G.I. grips and all of the U.S. markings but no U.K. or any other markings.but it is in 38/200(38 S&W)Caliber.Hope you can use this info.Stan Byrd Anniston Al.

This sounds like a very nice Victory! Post some pics of it if you can...

I'd definitely get that one lettered. There were some Victory models that shipped to the OSS, Kunming, China during mid 1945 that fall in the same serial number range as yours.

Thanks for your post giving us the details on your Victory for the Victory Database. Every bit helps.

A question or two, please. Are the left top strap markings "[ordnance bomb] U.S. Property GHD"? Any import or other post-factory markings?

From our Victory Database I can estimate for you that your Victory was likely shipped form the factory in August, 1944. As Linda points out there are some OSS shipments in that general serial range, but all of them in that range in our Database are .38 Special guns, not .38 S&W as your piece is.

I hope this information is helpful. If you do get a factory letter please post back here on the results so that we can improve the accuracy and completeness of the Victory Database.

That is right"[ordnance bomb] U.S. Property GHD"are the only markings on the gun other than what Smith put on it. I will get it lettered asap and get the info back to you.Thanks papabyrd
