I knew it, I knew it! I just KNEW if I went in that shop they'd have something I couldn't resist.
So here's my story. (IMHO the "how you came to acquire a particular firearm" is at least as interesting as the gun itself. Am I right?)
I'm still recovering from shoulder replacement surgery, but I'm well enough to start a project. The Mrs. bought me a 12x20 shed to convert into my gun room/workshop/mancave a couple months back, so I decided it's time to get started on renovating it. First task is put electrical into it so I can run lighting and A/C, a must-have here in AZ.
Monday, I went to Home Depot and the Harbor Freight store in Apache Junction for supplies and tools. Of course, what's right across from HF? A gun shop, of course.
I resisted on my trip up there Monday. I had the urge to just go "look," but no, I said, gotta get home and help feed the horses.
Turns out, though, I got the wrong size of one item at Harbor Freight and had to go back and exchange it, which I did yesterday (Tuesday.) Heh.....
Yeah, no resisting a second time. Did my exchange and literally ran across to the shop with that "Take my money!" look on my face. You all know what I'm sayin'.
These guys are sly. They intermingle the used guns all over the store, so you have to look at -everything-, like it or not. Sly.
Well, I could have spent a couple thousand or more adding to my little S&W accumulation. A very nice Model 10 standard barrel. A Model 59, a 439, a 469, and a 669, all in "take me home" condition and attractively priced. But then...
A Model 60. A 60-7, to be exact. And good-looking Js are my weakness, even more than blondes with big you-know-whats.
I just said, "Write it up, please."
$399 plus tax. The BRH serial number looks to be 1994. No box, Uncle Mike's grips, and a nice smooth action. No gouges or scratches, although those aren't usually a deal-breaker on a stainless gun. A couple photos, and thanks for indulging my storytelling.
