I went by my local Ace Hardware to look for any new guns today and discovered they are now selling reloading supplies also. I picked up one pound jars of IMR 4198 ($30), IMR 4831 ($30), Red Dot ($28) and Winchester SR Primers $40/1000. They had plenty of primers, dies, big blue Dillon presses, bullets and empty cases. The bullets and cases were way overpriced ($70/1000 used 40 S&W cases, $85/850 .22 bullets). They had buckets of .22 LR for $129 (still too expensive).

Fleet farm in Minnesota started selling reloading supplies. Decent stock and prices.

Not in CT that I have found so far, of course this godforsaken state, I'm surprised they haven't found a way to outlaw reloading…...

I have a local True Value dealer that is a Spyderco dealer and sells the UMC 250 paks for a better price than Cabela's. If they ever start selling reloading supplies I'm in a whole lot of trouble.

The key word is: LOCAL

Guns? Reloading supplies? Ammo? 22LR?!?! Seriously? Even 22?
Geez, I want that kind of Ace Hardware near me!

The only thing gun related that I buy at the Ace's near me is overpriced Chore Boy Scrubbers.

I sure miss the old days when you could just walk into your LGS and pick up a pound of powder, some primers and whatever else you might need. You could also order cases (yeah cases) of .22 ammo, no problem, no shortage. Manufacturers must certainly be making what we all need, where is it going? There can't be that many hoarders out there grabbing it all. Stores are selling some things at outrageous prices and limiting purchases. If I were a manufacturer I would have ramped up production long ago. WHERE IS THE STUFF?

i stopped going to my local reloading supplier because of this. There are limiting primers to 500 at $5/100 for every primer type and only 1lb of primer regardless of the type.

Here in central California our local ACE sells ammo, but no guns or other shooting supplies. They have a big banner on the front of the store saying lowest ammo prices in town. Turns out that may be true, but prices are still high.

these guys are good on some things then just stupid on others. They had some 223/5.56 rounds (20 round, white/blue box ?) for $7.99 and then Remington bucket of bullets (22LR) for $129. Go figure.

Wow, I haven't heard of a hardware store selling guns or ammo since the early 80s, much less reloading supplies. Maybe a little Mom & Pop store in a small town that sold basic ammo, but not a major chain.

There must be money in it. I noticed my local Academy is selling primers. I asked about powder and they said they haven't gotten there yet, but were planning to.

Maxw, please let us know when you get to the Old Dominion. There is a pretty good group of us S&W lovers here.

FishingPilot, I assumed your were going to say you were at the ACE Hardware in Lynchburg. The founder of that store built his gun business on the fact that first Western Auto (his original franchise) then ACE both had lots of gun buying power by their corporate size, but lots of their individual stores didn't carry guns or ammo. In fact, the Lynchburg store is a gun store with a little hardware! ;)

Not that one but some of my guns are from there:D. I'm in Winchester (moved from Bedford for some dumb reason). My parents are in Amherst. I come down there a lot to shoot skeet and 5-stand with my dad over at Isaac Walton. I want a 5-stand in my backyard. Lynchburg is my old stomping grounds. I worked in the R&D lab for Ericsson many years ago.

Beaufort

Schofield's Ace in Florence sells guns, or at least a couple of years ago when I was through there, and reloading supplies too. Had some used guns on the rack, but nothing that intrested me at the time.

I hear there is a place in Beaufort that sell guns but it's a bit of a drive. If I knew what I would find there I'd make the trip, but not just to 'see'.

Ace is the Place

Glad to hear it . I`m west of Richmond also. There is an Ace store in N.Myrtle Beach (Boulineaus) that the last time I was there had an inventory of long guns and a really good bit of ammo.

We don't have an Ace where I live. Atwoods is our hardware store where you can buy just about anything including handguns, shotguns, rifles and ammo.

WI too. Prices seem good. They got lots of stuff. No 2400 or H110/296, but Bullseye and Unique. Plus lots of odd parts, but not what I am looking for.

I was surprised it took them this long. I went to a Gander Mtn, that didn't carry anything. I don't have much use for them.

The only gun related thing our small town Ace sells is Chore Boy pads and 3 in 1 oil. I have been in a half dozen different Ace Hardware stores in Texas and none sold anything related to firearms.
