Have been waiting anxiously for the XDs in 9 to make its way to NH and I found one in my LGS yesterday. If it shoots anywhere near as well as my XDs 45 I think we will have a winner here

Frog Lubed it up yesterday and have a Talon Grip on the way. Will try to get out this weekend to see how it stacks up vs my Shield

Oh that is nice! I added an XDm 3.8 in 9mm a couple days ago. Soft and accurate!

Picked mine up Tuesday...it's great...one raggedy hole is achievable with strict trigger control at 10 yards.

Nice score. I'm really impressed with how well engineered and put together the XDs line is on the whole. Like you, I have the XDs .45 and it has been just great. Best stock sights I've ever seen, really nice trigger, and much less recoil than I ever expected from such a small package.

Enjoy your XDs 9 and let us know how it stacks up against your Shield. I think Springfield released the XDs 9 at a good time when folks waiting for Shields may reconsider if they can get their hands on an XDs 9 now.

I have to think things are really interesting in this segment with the Shield, PPS, and now XDs 9 and several other respected brand alternatives to choose from.

My buddy just bought one today and I got to shoot it. It shoots like a dream, however side by side with my Shield. I am more accurate with the Shield. XDS 9 is amazing, and I will own one

I paid 539 for mine. The black ones have been going for 499-599 and the Bi-tone ones 549 to over 600. Depends where you buy it. MSRP for black is 599

I have no inclination towards an XDs9 since I have a Shield & BP9CC (you scoff but Bersa did good on this one). I have been thinking about the XDs45. Kind of the Noah's Arc of firearms, lol. I have 2 Glocks, and 2 M&Ps. Really like my XD40sc & an XDs45 would be a nice addition. I've seen them at my LGS $599 NIB.

I just molested one at my LGS. They had one on the shelf for $569 and it's been there for a few day they said. No where near the demand that the Shield is bringing.

Damn that trigger break and reset is nice! Feels very good in the hand and the backstrap safety was not an issue as I original thought it would be. It looks like it has interchangeable backstraps and has a front rail which I really like. The factory sights are very nice also. It's like all the little stuff S&W didn't put on the Shield Springfield did with the XDS.

Very nice gun and it would be a tough decision between this and the Shield, but I already own the Shield so I'm not looking to trade up. However this seams like the best if not better candidate than the hard to get Shield.

...has a front rail which I really like.

Now, me, I don't like a rail on a pistol. That is one feature I really liked on the Shield. I wish manufacturers made their guns with or without a rail, so you could choose, but I know that would be impractical.

I haven't seen an XDS9, but I had a XDS45 briefly. I kinda wish I had kept it. I decided to consolidate down to one caliber (9mm) and so it went, along with all my other .45 pistols.

Can you get a first responder discount on the XDs?

When you can buy a Shield for $335 LE, it's kind of tough to shell out nearly $550 for the Springfield.

I doubt it...I think only Sig, Glock and Smith do that? I am very happy with the xds 45 so I imagine that the 9 will be just as fantastic of a pistol.

They definitely are at a different price point. The XDS seems to be put together more solidly than the Shield. Not that I am unhappy with the Shield at all. Just observations and it should be more solid at 150 dollars more MSRP vs MSRP

How did you get your hands on one!!? My LGS and 2 others laughed in my face when I asked when they might get it, then they kindly said "August at the soonest." I am so jealous! I love the feel of the XDs and when I caught wind that it was coming out in a 9mm I almost crapped a brick and have started to save my pennies. I didn't like the .45 just because I feel nothing over a .40 should come out of a polymer frame.
Bottom line, congrats! Let me know how it feels, I am so jealous right now.

I honestly didn't expect to see one for a long time...my test fire date on the shell was dated in April so they probably have a HUGE amount of these made and on their way to stores...keep checking...I saw on Facebook that a little LGS in my town advertised that they got one in.....if they can get one I'm sure that one in your area should be able to get one soon!

The XDS 45 one of the softest .45's for a gun that size....don't write it off....it is a gentler shooting gun than my Shield 40

I picked mine up yesterday, waited a few months for them to arrive.
No Frog Lube, no nothing, just took it to my range, Speer 124 TMJ and Gold Dot, 100% so far.
Date on shell casing envelope is 5/14/13. From Internet reports, it appears they are arriving and continue to be in the supply chain. Find another LGS if you get laughed at, one that will take your order and deliver and then use them 100% to establish a relationship. No one laughs at me at the LGS I use, they just do thier best to accomodate obtaining what I want, have a flat % markup over invoice(I paid $509.99).
It's a very nice sub-compact 9mm single stack.-Dick
