I buy, sell, trade at least 4 or 5 guns a year. It is an addiction that only harms my billfold. Now there is nothing to buy that I want or if I do find something the cost is way up. I have been spending my gun money on upgrading a Glock 43 but it is just not the same. Is there a support group out there? Something like Alcoholics Anonymous. Will I ever be over the withdrawal symptoms? What is an old guy to do?

Instead of buying guns, or ammo, in the calibers that bring a fortune,,
I buy fun stuff that has not changed price,,
* Cleaning Supplies,
these are still cheap, and still on Amazon, but, you gotta wait two weeks for them to get here.
I am good with that, some Breakfree CLP arrived yesterday.
* Cleaning What You ALREADY Own,
This one will get you,, I will bet there are guns in the back of the safe that havent been lubed in twenty years,,
* Write An Inventory List, AND, Record Serial Numbers,
This one will keep you busy until the END of the pandemic,,
your family will be happy to find this, after you pass, so they have an idea of how many guns to go looking for,,
* Write a Detailed Description Of WHERE Each Gun Resides,
This one kinda goes with the step above.
OK, complete these steps, then, come back, and we will give you the next four steps in the program.
You do not want to be overwhelmed by having ALL of the steps,, at the start of the program.

It's hard for me to imagine 30-40 gun folks in a room together for a 12 step meeting and see no trades/offers.

I'm walking around with the Standard Manufacturing Colt clone on the brain 24/7 . I need it about as much as John Wayne does but is it BEAUTIFUL! Those case hardened colors do the same for me that blondes and brunettes used to. Can I get a witness!

Bruises are the same color as case hardening. You can get them for free and have them on your person at all times to look at. Why pay thousands of dollars for that? Just go to a bar and pick a fight. Don't even need to wait for shipping!

You have come to the most inappropriate place to ask for ANY kind of help.... the people here are enablers of the most sincerely worst kind...They can't help it though. They mean well but are incapable of really helping YOU when they can't help themselves.....so you will have to seek help somewhere else. Perhaps the guys at the Colt Forum will be more helpful....

What I did.
I sold my hot rod (2008) I quit drinking (2012) I quit smoking (2011).
That opened up an avenue that encompassed a lot of funds in different directions.
Then I dealt with my wife with a deal that put a smile on her face, this big,
I spend a dollar, she spends a dollar. As far as everything goes it's all pretty good.

I look at it this way.
I don't gamble. do drugs, or take lavish vacations. So if I add a gun to the collection, at least I have something to show for it.
I never spend more that I can afford. If I can't pay the Visa bill at the end of the month, I don't buy it.
A lot of times I'm trading or selling to pay for my new acquisition.
And the value of said acquisition will not go down. more than likely it will go up.
So to me gun purchases are like drinking beer. Done in moderation it's very enjoyable.

4-5 a year seems downright normal to me OP, so I'm not going to be much help.
I quit smoking, drinking, and drugs in 1991. I rarely gamble and never for more than $100 if we happen upon a casino for whatever reason maybe once a year.

I've sworn off Gun Broker and Guns International several times; the withdrawal symptoms are more than I can bear, so I'll suffer for the rest of my wife. My sympathies go out to you; but at least you share the results of your addiction with fellow forum members.
