Thinking about adding a mainspring/magwell combo to my SW1911TA - Ed Brown makes one they call Snakeskin, which is a pretty close match to the scales on the slide, seems to look nice. I also see a lot of recommendations for the S&A as well, which has your basic checkering. Both seem to be out of stock at Brownell's so they must be popular choices .

Just curious if anyone has installed either on a E-Series SW1911TA (or standard), and if any install or fitting issues, etc... thanks

Go with the scales. When I pay off my E Series lay-away, I'm putting the Ed Brown scaled mainspring housing on mine. Very handsome piece.

I actually went with a Smith & Alexander, ordered it today from Brownell's. Mainly due to the Ed Brown Snakeskin/Scales only being available in flat, and I prefer arched. But yeah, the Ed Brown would sure look sweet on any E Series, I agree.

When you add the mag well extension, do you need special flat base grips?

I would like to see pictures of how these look installed when you guys get yours in and installed please.

So it arrived today from Brownell's, along with a bunch of Wolff Springs and some SLIP lube... :)

Anyway, pretty strait forward install, the base angle was good to go out of the box, so no tweaking required really. The flare of course needs blending. Going to make sure it's a keeper before bothering with any of that, however. The finish matches up very well, and the arched mainspring is much more comfortable in my hand than the flat version which seems to be all the rage now. Overall, I'm liking the finished product :D

Here's a few quick cellphone pics. I need to learn how some of you guys take such great pics of your handguns...
