Adding To The .22LR Thread, What was Your First .22 Hangun?

My first 22lr handgun was a Beretta Mod 948, made in 1953. It looks like a slightly smaller Mod 1934.
Probably not most folks 22lr., but there it is.
I still have it.

Smith & Wesson Model 17 K-22 purchased new in 1980. I still have it.

A Colt Service Model Ace was first and a week later I bought a S&W 17 (-3 or -4). I had been to a shooting gallery at the shore that had S&W K22s. Shot it and had to have one. Ultimatley traded (regretfully) both off in the mid 90s but have replaced the 17. Don't know if I'll ever be able to replace the Ace, it was very accurate.

Stag gripped K22 Dad got in 1952 or 3 that I "borrowed" in 1953. I returned it and it got sold for about two bags of groceries in Reno in '53.

Mine was a Colt Frontier Scout. Couldn't hit the side of a barn with it. Traded it for a S&W K22 (was in the mid 60's and wasn't educated enough to remember if was a Mod 17 or a K22) Traded that off for a High Standard Victor, which I still have and still shoot.

Ruger Standard Model 6" tapered barrel made about 1981.

Have acquired other 22lr over time, Buckmark, Walther, Sig and S&W Mod 34 and 18.

I can't remember if it was a Ruger standard auto or a Colt frontier scout. I think I had the Colt before the Ruger.

Late 1959....Smith & Wesson Model 34 .22/32 Kit gun. Kept it until 1963 when I traded it to a friend of mine for a Ruger Single-six..........

Early production, 1980, I think, M63 no dash. I still have it and it's the "always goes to the range" gun.

This. Only it was blue. Bought in 1961 for a sidearm when hunting doves in Eastern OR. Couldn't hit a thing with it. Sold it in the 80's for some bad reason. I bought the nickel Kit for nostalgia. I have actually hit 2 prairie dogs with it and have found it to be a sweet little revo. I would really like to trade it straight across for another LNIB version in blue.

Grips numbered to the gun, papers, box, no tools... looking for blue.

Sold it for a Beretta Bobcat (also a 22lr)

Malysh, was that Beretta also sold as the Jaguar? I have a 3" that shoots great. Single action auto, fixed sights. Don't see too many around.

I have my dad's Beretta 948 that I got when he passed away. And I have a beretta Jaguar that I bought for $100 way back in the 70's. To me the 948 is more accurate than the Jaguar. Both will always have a home here.
The 948 has both front and rear sight on the slide and 2 piece grips wiht exposed frame. The Jaguar as you know has the rear sight on the slide and the front sight on the barrel with 2 piece wrap around grips around a skeleton frame.

I was single back in 1970. Had the money and bought a Colt Woodsman Match Target pistol new. Had a lot of fun with it. Got married. We had baby + adopted 2 rug rats. Needed money for groceries, etc. Sold the Colt with box & papers in early 70's for $75.00!!! Also sold a like new Sako Finnbear in .270 with Redfield scope (threw in all the ammo I had) for about $150? (hard to remember!). Now my youngest (the chip off the old gun nut block) can't stand to hear me tell the story of the $75 Colt. I tell him that he was the one drinking the milk, not me!

Late to the show, just turned 55 last week and only got my pistol permit in July. One of the reasons was I got this from the estate of a friend that passed away, 1942 Woodsman Sport. It was the push I needed to go through the rigmarole and mountain of paperwork but it was worth it.

In the last month I have also gotten two K-22's a 1955 and a 1957, a 1953 .22/.32 Airweight Kit gun and a 2" chrome 34-1 just like driheats.

Best slow down for a while...

My first handgun was a Ruger Blackhawk .45 Colt, 7.5 inch barrel. It was actually the first handgun I ever pulled the trigger on. Saved up and got it when I was sixteen and shot it a LOT. (Found a used reloader) Things were a lot different back then.

First .22 was about 15 years later, a Ruger Mk II four inch barrel, fixed sight. Never really shot it a lot--it didn't really "talk" to me.

Got a 17-3 about eight years ago and love it. Ended up trading (partial trade) the Ruger for this 1947 K22:

Bought my first .22 pistol while in the Army in Germany in 1961. S&W Mod 53 with both cylinders. Sold it to a German friend in 1964 and he still has it. I shoot it when I visit with him.
