I just got my sigma 40 and went to the range and was shooting really low. I have read that sigmas need to cover the Target instead of just below the Target. But even with that would not make a difference because I was aiming for the head and the shots where hitting the center of the Target like 7" low. This at 7" yards. I put 100+ rds. And all seem to be low. Also it seem the higher I would go on the Target the worst it got. Is it me new with a sigma or is the front sight to tall or something else? What step should I take.

Have another shooter shoot your gun. Dont tell him of the problem and see how he does, try to pick someone who has good shooting skills and has shot a sigma. Sigmas have a long hard trigger pull but with practice ive forgot about it. Remember most of the time its the shooters fault, we have old habbits when we shoot and sometimes we dont even know we are doing them.

Slow it down and take your time. Relax and remember your just having fun. Sometimes when im shooting bad i get all uptight and i might as well just walk away and return later when im more relaxed. Sometimes it just takes time to find that sweet spot. Best of luck. :)

Get back to the basics.

Sight picture, breathing control and trigger squeez.

A good solid two hand hold works wonders.

The way you are describing the shot, I think you are inadvertantly grabbing a fistfull of grip as you are "pulling" the trigger. You'll shoot low everytime.

I think you are right on the money. I picked up a Sigma 9mm last month...went to the range and had no problem, primarily because I haven't shot a handgun in over 20 years! So, I had no choice but to go back to basics...and I had no "bad habits" or shooting habits from other weapons. I shot 85 rounds at various distances and all but two were center mass shots, and all shots went where I aimed. So, to the OP I'd second what oldafsp said...back to basics.

Sigma's like a deliberate pull with no hesitation, all the way back.

If you anticipate the shot and pull harder "to help it along" just before it reaches full-pull, you will also pull the gun down and not realize it.

Line up the sights, and then switch your concentration to your pull. Smooth, deliberate, all the way back. Don't worry, when you are smooth you won't pull the sights out of alignment much, if at all.

Go shoot some more, and have fun!

I was shooting low and left...now that I concentrate on the trigger and know just when it is going to fire I hit the center of the taget about 80-85% of the time. Hang in there and you will improve...I get better every time I go to the range now.

I've been shooting only a couple of years and am still working on basics.
Jim H has good advice.
