after 22 years I bought a Glock 34

I have a Glock17.3 and G34.4
Carry the same mags,
G34 has a better oem trigger and bigger mag release.
Grip is the same

Once you own a Glock you'll want another and another :D

I tried several glocks back some years a neightbore has that carried glocks as a duty handgun as his g22 was and a new to the market at that time a gen 5 19 and g41 and that took care of my interest in owning or shooting glock . To many decades shooting & carrying pistols with normal grip angles that also do not have flat sides to the grip .

I have a lot of respect for Glock as a company even though I have never owned one. They have excellent quality control and customer service and I've shot a lot of them in many sizes and calibers and I shoot them well but not crazy about the grip, trigger, and lack of a manual safety. If they made one similar to the configuration and ergonomics of an M&P 2.0 I might buy one, but on the other hand I am totally happy with my Smith and Wesson M&P 2.0.

I’ve shot my buddies long slide Glock 10 mm. The model number escapes me at the moment. It’s quite accurate with the Trijicon RMR it feels like you’re cheating.

I have been issued a variety of handgun brands during my career. Sig, Beretta and Glock. They all worked fine. I love 1911’s, Hi-Powers and Smith wheel guns too. Not very interested in most of the current Sig offerings. Specialization is for insects and the gun is a tool, the man behind the trigger is the weapon.

I never understood the Glock grip angle complaint. I hated Glocks before I was issued one because it was “plastic.” I was ignorant then. They started issuing Glock 17 or 19. Decided I better master this platform because my life depends on it. I really came to appreciate that trigger, no super long first DA pull, no safety to forget to swipe off. Berettas are nice guns but there safeties are straight up retarded.

I wish the Glock 19x or Glock 45 were available before I retired. I prefer the commander type set up of a full size grip and commander length slide. Especially for riding in a squad. An RMR negates the sight radius advantage and that short slide clears the holster faster. That being said I’d love to own a Glock 34 or the 10 mm version. I like guns.

My last duty gun before retirement was a standard size Glock (don't recall the model#) in .40 S&W. That made a convert out of me.

When the Models 26 and 27 became available, I bought a 26. Since I got it, it has been my only EDC firearm. I don't believe in rotation (stipulated that YMMV). I am more comfortable carrying the same firearm all the time.

The grip angle on the Glock, or on any other pistol does not bother me. I have no problem adjusting. What is more important to me is grip thickness. I have large hands so I really like double stack magazines for the size of the grip. I have put Pearce magazine extenders on my double stack compact pistols and those make a material difference.

I could mention the many reasons I like the Glock, but I'll just summarize the conclusion. The scariest sound in the jungle is 'click'. I don't ever want to hear that sound. I think the Glock gives me the best chance of never hearing that sound. Other pistols arguably may be just as reliable, but no one that I know of has been able to make a case of another pistol being more reliable.

That level of reliability in such a compact package with the payload it carries is, for me, ideal.

My agency went to issuing Glock in 2006. Before that I carried a SIG Sauer P220. It was a good pistol, but times change. I knew it was coming so I bought a G19 to learn the platform. I came to appreciate it as well. I carried the G19 from 2006-2021 when I was issued the G45. I bought my G19 for a negligible sum and it is in my safe. I retire in three years and I will be gifted my G45 as a retirement gift. I don't know if I will get to keep the Steiner red dot sight. I own many different handguns, but the G19 is and will remain my CCW. Compact, lightweight reliable and simple to operate under stress. Works for me.

Some carry guns are best not seen
or brought up in discussions.
On a serious note, loaded some XTPs
for my boy's new G36, 15 or so years ago,
and was surprised with the tight groups.

The Glock 34 is a great pistol and one of best bang for your buck in a High performance racegun or duty gun. A great all around 9mm with performance on the range or on the job.

I was not a Block fan and resisted owning one for 30+ years, in spite of the hype. Grip felt weird, angle was odd, bit ugly, horrid trigger.
Yet, I became a recent convert and now shoot Glocks reasonably well. Just took some time at the range and a slightly better trigger. My first was a G35.
Still have a strong preference for 1911/2011 platforms, but you know what....some of these Glocks aren't so bad after all.
They certainly do run and I like the proliferation of aftermarket parts.

I love my Glock 34. The only thing I added to mine was a KKM threaded barrel (so I can run a can on it) and Trijicon suppressor-height sights for obvious reasons. The gun is tack-drivingly accurate, and I've never had a problem with the stock Glock trigger. It goes bang when I ask it to, and never when I don't.
