Again with the credit card fraud!

They should give you your cash back bonus. If they refuse file an attorney general complaint and notify the executive inquiry liaison at the CC company that you have done so. You will get it back.

This was a hot button issue in the CC industry a while back and it was made abundantly clear the customers CBB was theirs regardless of amount etc. There was flexibility in how the consumer received it so there were internal policies on when we would cut a check and when we would apply it to the account balance.

My card contacts me any time there is a charge from outside my zip code, (that I haven't previously set up exception for). Only had one situation, about 12 years ago when there was a charge from California Jack In The Box. I caught it and the card was cancelled and a new one issued.

I have a Capital One card. I get an email AND text message the instant a charge is made...saves me from having to log in and monitor the account. When I get gas, my phone pings with a charge notification faster than I can hang up the nozzle.

I took this one step further. For every credit card I have the card issuer send my cell phone a reference to every transaction. Those scammer aren't going to get far on my dime!

This is the way to go. Every transaction made on any credit card or debit card cause me to get a text. Most times before I have had time to pick up merchandise at the register.

Called my wife one time to ask her about a transaction. She said, yes, it was legitimate. Done. Then her friend started giving her a hard time about me checking on her spending. She got set straight quickly.

Had someone get a hold of my credit information who tried to open 3 separate credit card acct's in my name, they were successful with 2 of their attempt's. I didn't know anything about it until the credit cards showed up in my mail box. I called and immediately cancelled both cards and the credit card charges were reversed. Reported it to the police who did some research and found out that someone also tried to open a third acct which the store declined to open. The police detective suggested I put a freeze on my credit information, I did and no new acct's have been opened since. The detective asked me if I would be willing to press charges if they caught the person or person's involved, I said I would press charges. The detective also told me that the chances of them following up on this was remote because I wasn't actually out any money, I never heard another word about it.

Considering everything. you still had a happy ending with this event!:)

Good for you. It has been my experience that you have to affirmatively set up this type of protection. I set mine up to report every credit card transaction from every credit card to me because once upon a time somebody got hold of my credit card number and charged some airline tickets in Chile, South America. Luckily I was in the habit of checking my charge account on the issuer web site and caught it right away rather than wait until the statement came. I informed the issuer that I was not pleased about how they let that transaction slide through without checking with me when I had never been out of North America in my life and the thief didn't have my card when the airline tickets were being bought. The lesson here, you have to take the security for your credit cards into your own hands.

Anytime my Ameris Bank credit card is used without the card being present, I get an email from them.

Last week I made a purchase of $1,124 to a company in BC Canada. When I got my order conformation instead of it showing the last 4 numbers of my credit card, it had a different set of numbers. The charge went thru to them, and my bank.

I called my bank a couple days later to ask what was up with that. They told me it was a 3D Secure payment like a virtual credit card. They also said anytime I use my card on a tap chip reader it does the same.
