Lied to? Probably... no. But, there are powerful financial and political interests that are involved. If coffee had been surrounded with all the voodoo mythology that has surrounded much of the discussions about marijuana or even various herbal remedies, then coffee would probably be illegal. The same financial and political interests would be involved for the same reason. Lies? Each would use them. Lying is just part of the process.

Nobody is interested in solutions. The "problem" is where the cash is. Local LE has tanks, "Response vehicles", Hut-hut squads in balaclavas, helecopters, and a budget unlimited in any sense of the word. 95% of their work is related to weed ( the other 5% is tweekers and cookers). The courthouse runs on grinding the weed transgressors (and traffic fines). I've lived here 1/3 of a century and the "problem" is 1000X bigger than when I got here. If I favor legalization it isn't because I condone weed use but I do favor solutions. Joe
