have debated on one but never pulled the trigger . on amazon , found a lensum 1700 watt 5.8 qt stainless air fryer. this seems to be about the middle size . about $ 65
just me here , except when my girlfriend is visiting 3-4 times a month .
i would be mostly using it to save time time in cooking , and having the simplicity & convience of cooking . would mostly be cooking chicken , chops or steaks , & french fries . my questions : does it REALLY brown food to a decent degree , let us say 85% as much as covential cooking ? and time saved , does it save at least 30% time ?
you folks that cook with one , how would you rate it ?

I had one last year. It was a very highly rated one and cooked certain things ok, like french fries and such but even though it was supposed to be easy to clean, which it wasn't. Also, my kitchen smelled like fry food all the time. And for the amount we used it, it just took up too much counter space. I sent it back to Amazon with no problem.

I've got a cheapo 7qt I bought on clearance at walmart for $50.

Absolutely phenomenal. Good fries, good wings, good roasted veggies, good bacon, reheats leftovers awesome, even makes frozen gas station chimichangas delightful. Could not recommend more highly.

My daughter's boy friend has one. Some Ninja model. It's noisy and a PITA to clean up. I was not impressed.

We have a PowerXL, our first one.

It makes the absolutely best, THE BEST, BBQ chicken thighs, legs or wings I have ever had.

They look exactly like I wanted them to look after I grilled them, and never did.

I am sold on the air fryer for BBQ'd chicken.

We had a countertop model that we liked
(& yes Not very easy to Clean)
BUT we liked the cooking results well enough
that when we had to replace our Range / Oven
we got one with a Convection AirFry setting

Look into the air fryer ovens that do it all. They work much better and cleanup is a snap.

Found some frozen Tots in the back of the freezer. Decided to try out the air fryer/toaster oven. Put them in the basket, sprayed them with Pam, set the timer for 20 minutes and walked away. Came back when I heard the ding. They were golden brown like they came out of the Fry Daddy BUT were not dripping in grease.

Do not rely on Any ads on tv or radio, want factual experience/ results from family and friends so I asked. Everybody loved theirs so picked up a mid range priced one. LOVE it! and Easy to clean the non stick tray and cooking "pan" . Tray goes in dishwasher, pot get sprayed with spray Dawn, wiped and rinsed out, less than 3 minutes. Cooks cut up veggies perfectly as well as fish and chicken and even had some french fries as no dripping grease/ oil.

We have a Cuisinart, but it's the box-like one (looks like a toaster oven) and not the type that looks like a bloated coffee maker. I was also hesitant to get one but my wife insisted - it has now become our most-used countertop appliance. The box-shaped ones cook more food (or the same amount of food just more spread out) and have much better air circulation. It this one vanished today, I would buy another tomorrow.

It does a lot of things well, but it doesn't do everything. Without a doubt - best way to reheat leftover pizza. Period. My vote is to give one a try.

My wife has an Instant Pot. It has an air fryer lid attachment, works great and is easy to clean. I know because I do dishes. 😁
Also have a cheese cake spring pan for it. 😋
I told her when we have to move to the old folks home all we need is a microwave, coffee pot and the instant Pot.

I have one, I like it a lot. A keto friendly favorite:

Mix up a batch of pork rind panko, grated parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, smoked paprika for dredge.

Dredge bone-in pork chops. Into the air fryer (8 minutes is plenty for mine). Result is far tastier, juicer, and tender than any other method I've tried.

Buddy raved about his. He is a wing guy, and I lived on too many at school to eat more. He hawked me a used one from a friend who was buying up.
Good for fries, frozen breaded shrimp, etc. Yes, does still stink up the house with oil small if you do stuff like chunked potato in oil like I do.
Mine cleans up pretty easy. I use the parchment round sheets every time, and soap up container in sink. Simple.
Just an old time single Neanderthal, prefer charcoal Webber, but George Foreman on porch works for a burger.
Yes, old single guy. Counter space is an issue, I suppose. Seeing ads for built into ovens and such, so there are alternatives.

We've got a 6qt Gourmia from Costco, about $60. Love it for fries, baked potatoes, wings, frozen fish, eggrolls etc. Ours is simple to clean up.

My wife has one made by Dash. We have been very impressed. It is great for fries, chicken sandwiches, and reheating some items. Well worth the money.

We got one for Christmas. After using it 3 times I thought, "they are trying to solve a cooking problem that don't exist"
Ours sits on the counter and gathers dust now.

Our son got us one for Christmas and we made French fries once in ours and they were horrible (probably us).
But, they make the best tasting chicken wings in the world, it takes them to another level! We cook ours 30min and they're perfect.
The wings come out crispy golden brown and most of all, no oily taste just chicken flavor.
You'll never eat wings out again.
