Anyone use air soft guns in their homes for training? For sight picture alignment when shooting from cover, walking and shoot drills etc?

I was thinking of getting the air soft m&p I saw at the sporting goods store to practice fundamentals.

It could probably help but honestly I would just use the real firearm (unloaded of course) to get the feel for the real thing. Nascar drivers dont practice in a Prius, do they? Same concept. Also the BB's left behind are a p.i.t.a to clean up too

I do that for my kids, and with airguns too ( realistic CO2 weapons with blowback...) When i can bring them to the shooting range with me, other shooters are suprised with my childs ' accuracy with real guns !

I saw these when i was searching for holsters, looks just like the real thing. I haven't ever messed with airsoft, how long do the little tubes of compressed air last?

Blowback

I've played Air soft for two years and have found that most players [even if it's force on force training] do not respect the sting from the guns and so do things that most would not do in a real combat situation. That being said, my brother just bought two full size gas blow back 1911's that feel like the real thing. The only thing that is missing is the sound and recoil, the clips hold about BBS and the C02 lasts about two or three clips.

i would suggest a .40 cal paintball pistole from RAP4, much more realistic.

Paintball's hurt, and can leave bruises or welts. Much more realistic but messy in the house.

The weight is different, the recoil isn't there, the flash and bang aren't there, the sights are different, etc.

Other than that............

Well I don't exactly shoot one to train with but I do have a Baby Desert Eagle that I play around with in the back yard. It shoots 410 ft per second so it is fun to plunk with when I can't get to the range. It will knock water bottles and squirrels down. Not even a close second to the real thing though.

Once in awhile I sneak down to the basement and shoot my Pellet and BB guns.

Home made target stand, 4ft high cardboard box with a sheet of foam in the rear. Cheap fun.
