A number of years ago when Bear Bryant was coach he wanted to recruit this great halfback from northern Alabama. Well other schools wanted him also so they brought him to campus. The coaches showed him around talked about playing for your own state and finally let him ride around in a convertible Mustang with the cutest cheerleaders. He was overwhelmed and told Bear he wanted to play for Bama and thought it was the best ever. So the Athletics Director gave him a paper and said you will need to sign this letter of Intent. The kid new little of these things and asked what’s a letter of intent Coach? Bear told him it says you intend to play here and won’t accept gifts or trips from other schools. The kid says OK and puts a big X on the line. Bear just shook his head and said no no not my name, your name son! This was told to me by a former dean of Engineering at Auburn so I guess it must be true.

I love good clean football jokes, this one is a classic. Before the Alabama fans get all worked up, remember, you can change the school and the person involved, to suit your self or the person you are telling it to. :-)

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Alabama’s schedule is easy this year compared to Auburn I do not think they have played a ranked team yet this year?. I think they are good but beatable this year. Yes I am pure Auburn (2 degrees from Auburn) and bleed orange and blue.

Past trends have Alabama playing cupcake games until the bye week off to rest, heal and prepare for their first real opponent. As an Auburn fan, I believe Saban .....everyone is afraid to play them(from the horse Sabans mouth). These small little non-competitive teams are the only teams willing to play the tide..... I find that hard to imagine.

The big factor these days is how many dollars will the Power 5 team pay for sacrificial lambs. The word in Iowa is costs about $1 million to get a team to visit. For most of these schools, the fee is very important funding for sports programs. Middle Tennessee State just took a terrible shellacking from Iowa last weekend and third stringers finished the game.

We paid San Jose State $1.5 million to come take their whooping like men. The problem is no one told them and the ungrateful *******s whooped us, took their check and went back to California!

Not to worry, Clemson will be waiting down the road.
