Alamo Holsters

A while back When I posted this holster,
I was told it was probably an Alamo.
It is not marked that I can find.
I bought it long ago from a Miss Gun Dealer who made yearly buying trips to San Antonio and often to the border.
This is the same guy who was the B17 Gunner who had pneumonia and missed the Ball Bearing raids.

Here is an Alamo that I had. I sold it, but kept a picture. The rolled
pigskin lining was kind of a signature for the vintage Alamo holsters.
The maker mark was stamped on the belt loop with ink, and I have seen
several where the mark had worn away. There are others using the name
now, but I don't think the original Alamo holster has been made since
the 1960s or 1970s.

Here's a Alamo I bought recently it's marked in ink on the back side of the belt loop as a model 19 6 inch.

I don't know much about them other than that they were prolific and usually lined their holsters with cream colored leather with a rolled edge. I believe Kirkpatrick is currently making similar holsters.
This example was on eBay for $25, I bought it because it wasn't a typical Alamo holster and it is inked K-22 and S&W M&P 6". It is a decent medium weight leather field holster with a forward cant and a full sewn welt.

It sure looks a lot like the black lefty Alamo I posted even though there are differences. Yours as an extra few Stitches next to the main seam stitching at top. Grooves on the safety strap which also flairs out at the end, and a different tooling pattern. Yet it still looks like an Alamo to me. Especially the lining.

I have no idea and have zero knowledge about the holsters. Mine was given to me by a Texan and it's marked "San Antonio, TX.". Stamping or lack of might be hints to their history like with other holsters to date them.

The lining is top quality glove leather and made so the smooth side is next to your gun. The lining is treated with silicone to prevent rust. The lining is sewn on the top outside of the holster. Then rolled over so no stitches are exposed to wear. It is then bonded to the inside, a full welt is inserted and the holster is sewn and lock stitched with waxed linen thread. A drain hole is put in the bottom to allow debris to fall thru and air to circulate up.

Each holster is hand finished and hand fitted to our shop gun to assure proper fit and crossover strap tension. Unlike pressure molded holsters which are hard and stiff due to compression, ours is very pliable and will hold your gun snugly, preventing it from moving while holstered. This type of design and construction virtually eliminates bluing wear. Also the holster does not squeak when worn or when the gun is drawn.

Wear tests for the past 8 years have shown this design far superior.
