aloha alaska...it was my metal rod that attach to the brass brush that was crooked stupid me forced it not knowing until it was too late ...had metal shaving come out closer to end of barrel.... i actually cut the brass weight off mt snake to clean it even the weight cuoldnt go thru

our s&w gunsmith lives molokai island so will call him tomrow to see what i can do......this forums is pretty cool !

I can't see how you could bend a barrel with a cleaning rod.. i would suspect that the metal shavings you seen are from the cleaning rod or one of it's attachments.. Unless you unscrewed the threaded end cap on the end of the barrel and took the sleeve off the barrel exposing the thin barrel and use some real force cleaning with out the barrel sleeve on the barrel.. If you took off the barrel sleeve and took out the barrel make sure it's indexed right when installing. I'm guessing here but i would think if it was indexed wrong it would look crocked..Can you post some clear pictures of what you see? George

Sup cuz, try posting some pictures so its easier to understand what you are talking about.

hey g.....its like this when i pushed the rod in with the cleaning tip ...i didnt check it was crooked until it got stuck kinda forced it more by then the brush was sticking out the front stuck an had to manually unscrew it first then pull the rod out by that time i already screwed up the inside barrel....later on last nite i took it apart an found its jus a thin barrel with the sleeve an all....my bad ! did this while all assembled didnt take off .....later only to take pics to show s&w what part i needed.......right now looks like i need the barrel only ..mahalos for reading idk how to post pics im trying...no work !

You may need to upload the pics someplace else like your personal home page and embed the link in the post here.

Just make sure the files are not really big.. no need to host them somplace else I found that out.. Hit reply to Post. Don't use the quick reply! This will give you more options when posting.. OK top line Crossed out A then Fonts then sizes.. all top line you will see a paper clip click on that then go to your folder on your computer from there and pick your pictures you want to post.. You may need to post them one at a time, I'm not sure.. But that's how you do it.. This will help us understand better.. Still with a aluminum and brass I can't see you doing much damage if any.. Hope this helps you! George

Sounds like there was lead buildup in the barrel. That could be the metal shavings you are talking about. Doubt you screwed up your barrel. That's probably why your cleaning rod got stuck and was then bent when you tried to force it through the barrel. What kind of ammo did you shoot and did you shoot a lot before trying to clean it??

u got that right ..i talked to the s&w tech here locally........said the same thing.....i looked an there was lead fouling .......first time that happened to me......i guess i didnt clean it that well last time......was using amer eagle 40 gr lead tip ...that sucked big time.......bulk winchester fine an blazer also.......much mahalos !!!!!!!!!!! all shooters have a great new year an xmas tc :)
