Heck, Peck, all us old-timers have had to adjust a set of grips from time to time. It's just part of the "fun" of making it fit you to a T. It's a good way to relax in between those long shifts of robber-chasin' and ticket-writin' that y'all do over there in KS.
Altamont grip problem

I've heard one LEO gunwriter refer to dump pouches as "those accursed dump pouches".
Don't remember who. It was probably 20 years ago.
If I were in charge of supplying such things to officers, I'd make damned sure they had the best they could have.
I'm thinking Safariland speed loaders. I love the way they work.
And, the best HP loads I could get.
And 3A vests for each officer.
Dead officers can't do their jobs.
Dead officers leave behind families.
I also wouldn't have adopted a certain pistol, just because the manufacturer was willing to sell them for half the price of a 3rd gen Smith.
I'm always reminded of one of Murphy's Laws of Combat.
"Remember, your weapon was built by the lowest bidder."
I wouldn't want my officers equipped with a pistol made by the lowest bidder.
I'd want them equipped with a pistol made by the best builder.
Definitely not the one with the crappy trigger pull.
BTW, SgtPeck, you have tougher hands/wrists and/or bigger cajones than me.
I find shooting a .357 J frame to be a less than joyous occasion.
Then again, if it saves your hide, it's worth it.

Although it is chambered for .357, I only use .38 spl in a snub nose.

How did your grips turn out? After seeing your picture, I bought a set like yours for my wife. I was thinking the longer grip might work better for her than my boot grips. No such luck. I didn't find their narrow profile very comfortable either at the range. The trigger guard kept whacking my second finger.
But, the grips won't go to waste. After looking them over and making a few measurements it became clear that it is possible to reshape the top area to provide the same kind of thumb rest that helps make Altamont boot grips work so well for me.
Here is the result.
As a side benefit, even my clunky, old Dade speed loaders, wrapped with a layer of electrical tape to prevent their wrap around spring from scratching the revolver, now work really well. I'll bet your Safariland speed loaders would too.

It might help. As a test, mine have been tossed and dropped onto carpeted floors without any rounds popping loose. They have never shed any rounds while carrying them.
Loading with the Dade loader works really work well for me. The two Jet-Loaders we have are even more impressive. But, the Dade loaders were quite a bit cheaper and are more compact. I understand that the imported SL Variant loaders are the best. But, they seem to be both hard to get and expensive.
