Alternative to Warne scope base?

I wanted to mount an Aimpoint on my 627 V-comp, but I'm not sure I would like the length of the Warne base. I'd prefer something about 2/3 that length. Plus, I won't need to mount sights on it, so that is a wasted feature for me.

Anyone mount an Aimpoint or other optic with another weaver style base? Suggestions for something a bit shorter? Have pics?

The Weaver 401 is shorter than the Warne. I use them on guns with Ultra-Dots and rings:

For the holographic sights like the Doctor Dots and Burris Fastfires I like the Allchin Mini-STS mounts:

Thanks for the reply! I'm going to go with a #401 and cut it down to the size I want.

As for Allchin, wow that's a bad-*** S&W 38 super on their home page. Definitely drool worthy. And that C-More mount is pretty slick. I'm not totally sold on mounting an Aimpoint on my 627, it may get moved over to a rifle if it turns out I don't like it, and this Allchin mount will definitely be the alternative. Thanks much for that link, you rock.

This is only on a 617, but I wouldn't hesitate to put this combination on any caliber. Burris Fastfire III on an Allchim base mount.
