Am I being overly suspicious?

We decided to have pizza on Friday. Fired up the computer, placed our order with our local Domino's, got on some shoes and trundled round there to pick it up.

On arrival I was struck by the number of staff in the place. Last time I went they were clearly short staffed and food was appearing at a leisurely pace. This time my stuff was ready on the shelf and a guy I'd never seen before took my payment.

Got home and started eating. Me to wife: "Is it me or does this pizza taste really good tonight?" Wife agreed 100%. Hmm, don't knock it, I guess.

Saturday afternoon, and a customer satisfaction survey from Domino's appears in my inbox. Now I'm wondering if every so often they parachute in a crack team of cooks to a location so the food is great then push out the surveys. Could just be the franchise (I assume) has been taken over and restaffed. What say you guys and gals?

We have a plethora of delivery/carry-out eateries within a 3 mile radius and use them with regularity. It is exceedingly rare that we suffer a bad experience.

On those scant times that we do a phone call has rectified the situation to our satisfaction.

Haven’t been to a pizza place for near a year, but when we do order it is usually carry out from Little Caesar’s. Better than most places. We usually make our own using the large burrito size flour tortillas as crust. Faster and cheaper than going out, and just as good. Maybe 5 minutes to make and 10 minutes to bake.

If I lived in NY, I wouldn’t be eating Dominoes either but it seems as of lately they are not bad out here. 30 some years ago when we tried them, I think the box might have tasted better

A very good yeasty pizza dough is easy to make from scratch at home. You won't order out after perfecting your own. Adding fresh ingredients (including the tomato sauce) is even easier than the dough.

Last time we ordered from Dominos the pizza got there four hours late. Haven't made that mistake again.

I'm very fortunate to have a great pizza place near me, Big Bill's NY Pizza. The owner is a former trainer with the Denver Nuggets and from NY. Every 9/11 you pay whatever you want for your meal and 100% goes to the widows and orphans of the attacks.

He has a number of dishes named for former members of the Nuggets plus lots of cool NY memorbilia on the walls. Lots of the old time local sports figures can be seen in there too.

When my son came home from his first deployment that night he was craving a good pizza and asked to go there-we couldn't pay for the meal, they knew he just got home.

Bill lost his wife to cancer and also does a yearly fundraiser. The guy is a prince among men.

If any of you east coast guys get to Denver you gotta check it out. I was born in NJ and thankfully my folks moved to Arizona when I was 12 but I prefer the east coast style of pizza to all others.

Our best local pizza place is independently owned shop, Pizza Capri's. Unfortunately, they use a contract delivery service called "Slice" that can be woefully slow. I'll drive the two miles to pick up at Pizza Capri's in the daytime, but if I order at night, I order from our local Papa John's, which has the best combination of good pizza and rapid delivery. I order from Papa John's online and I always get an online survey after the delivery. So far, I've always given the delivery person top marks. Maybe tipping 20% has something to do with it.

That's interesting. I've been trying to make my own custom pizzas instead of going out or buying frozen pizzas. How sturdy is a flour tortilla for holding all the sauce, cheese and meats?
