Absolutely not, buy as much as you can afford and have room to store.
IMHO “when you don’t need it” is exactly the right time to buy ammo.
This x100 ^^^^^. I’ve stressed this to friends time and time again everything something happens and there’s a spike/shortage.

A colleague of mine, years ago, an army reserve sergeant major, in a friendly discussion about stockpiling ammunition, remarked "in a worst-case scenario, how much can you carry?"
I'm a living breathing example of that . I got cut short after one of the school shootings and everything went crazy with the ammo market . I paid way too much for .22 ammo but I was nearly out . Since then I've stacked it deep . I have enough to leave to my grandkids .IMHO “when you don’t need it” is exactly the right time to buy ammo.
I have been buying (mainly CCI standard velocity & mag game points since Nov......not a lot but say 500 SV and 100game points each week I have maybe 14k of 22 LR total and 1750 of 22mag. Am I the reason it wont go down in price......and/or people like me buying when they dont need it?
Is that all you have??

As far as I can tell, prices ain’t dropping on anything.
So why would you think they would be dropping on ammo?
Ya know, there is such a thing as not taking your .22 to the range,
